Tis the season of giving! β¨πππβ¨
There are two versions of the Memory Jar and they both make a great gift. Both versions include a jar or pretty container, a pen and some note paper (I usually use sticky notes.) For this DIY version, I bought clear printer labels at Staples. On the note card, explain how to use the jar.
The first version is something I like gifting to families who have recently lost someone. I invite them to gather memories in the jar by jotting them down any time they pop into their head. Leave the jar, pen and note papers out somewhere visible in the home and encourage the whole family to participate. Then once a year, on a birthday or anniversary, sit down and read through all the notes together. You can even keep them and paste them into a memory book, and then start over!
The other version of the Memory Jar is used to keep a record of special little happenings throughout the year. When your child says something funny, or your partner does something sweet for you, jot it down, date it, and pop it in the jar. At the end of the year, sit down as a family and read through the notes to look back on your year and celebrate the little things π
