Today, we had the honour of attending the 38th Annual Memory Tree at St. Vital Centre — and it was absolutely beautiful.

The performance by the choir from Collège Jean-Sauvé filled the entire court with such heartfelt music. Their voices were incredible and made this cherished tradition feel even more meaningful.

Started in 1987, the Memory Tree offers a gentle space for anyone navigating grief during the holiday season — a time when feelings of loss and loneliness can feel especially heavy. It’s a place to pause, reflect, and honour those who remain forever in our hearts.

You can visit the Memory Tree anytime during mall hours from now until December 23, located in the court where Hudson’s Bay once stood. Write a card, share a memory, speak with one of the wonderful volunteers, and take a moment to honour someone special.

This past weekend, the team at Homecare Solutions for Everyone was grateful to help Palliative Manitoba set up the 38th Annual Memory Tree at St. Vital Centre — a beautiful and heartfelt Winnipeg tradition that has supported grieving families since 1987.

Tomorrow morning at 10:05 a.m., the Tree will officially open with a special performance from the choir at Collège Jean-Sauvé. We’d love for you to join this moment of reflection, connection, and remembrance.

For so many, the holiday season brings both love and longing — and the Memory Tree offers a gentle space to honour those we carry in our hearts. Whether you place a card on the Tree in person or send a message online, every memory shared is held with care and will be blessed and burned at the Light the Memories Ceremony in 2026.
