“We do learn so much about ourselves in our experiences. But also, know that it shouldn’t have happened. This was not a lesson you needed to learn.”
— Jordan Pickell, trauma therapist

I highly recommend reading this for anyone surviving, experiencing or exiting an abusive relationship.

As I mentioned in my recent reel, Complacency is a coping mechanism.

So, “Be gentle with your past selves for doing what they had to do to get through it.” — Jordan Pickell

“When we believe we are losing control, we grab on tight. When our greatest fear comes upon us, we clench our fist and teeth, close our eyes and hold on. We must learn how to let go. When the time comes for growth and change, we must have the courage and faith to let go. Whatever leaves my life makes room for something better.”
— Iyanla Vanzant

Being alone doesn't mean you're lonely. 😌

Sometimes solitude brings fortitude.

Breathe in deeply to bring your mind home to your body.
— Thich Nhat Hanh

It's time to give the mind, body, and spirit a break to heal and breathe.

We all deserve a reset.

It's time I have mine. 😮‍💨

Here are 6 Different forms of Self-Care.

They may be suggestions, but realistically, they're crucial to our development.

We must start to treat ourselves the same way we would a friend. Yes, I said MUST.
We give freely to others and consistently place ourselves on the back burner.

Now, let's do the same for ourselves; let's place ourselves in the forefront.

“Because our stories matter.” And “Because we deserve better.”

"If you want to heal your heart's wounds, start healing your thoughts."
— Alexandra Vasiliu

Pretty self-explanatory.
Believe it or not, our word choice matter;
especially when you talk to or about yourself.

I won’t say you SHOULD be nicer to yourself; instead, note and know that you CAN be.

You are phenomenal, loved, accepted and respected.

Now it's time you believe it. 🌸

“Because our stories matter.”

To love unconditionally means to love without terms and conditions or a tally.

Whatever I choose to give to you is because I want to do so wholeheartedly.

I get triggered when people remind me of “all they did for me.” Especially during a fight.

My trauma has taught me to internalize shame and guilt whenever I get “the list.”

What you choose to do is a choice you make, not one others should pay for, especially if they aren't aware that there is another option.

If you do something for someone, please let it be because you feel the happiest when doing that for others, not because you expect something back in return.

You deserve better, as does the recipient.

Life can't be about tit for tat, or when will anything be genuine?

Note to Self.

“Let silence take you to the core of life.”
— Rumi

Today, I went back to basics.

I haven’t been on the mat in quite some time, but today it called to me, and I listened.

I used to practice everyday minimum once a day habitually. Then somewhere along the way, I lost the connection.

Lost, but now it’s found.

Side note, did you know I’m a trained yoga teacher? 😌😏

Sometimes you need the silence to settle the mind, soul and spirit.

Sometimes we stray from the path because we need to make a stop to carry on.

May we find ease in who we are. 🌸

Dance first. Think later.
Omg what a night!
As always, I slept like a baby after last night’s cardio. 🤣

As always, thank you to for hosting me.

To anyone interested in participating but who couldn't or can't make it, let me know in the comments section if there's a particular day of the week that works best for you.

I plan on teaching more days in additional locations. 🤗

Remember, we dance to express, not impress!

So regardless if you missed a step or went the opposite direction, it doesn't matter; you keep moving.

Dance first, think later! 😉

Happy Soul Boost Sunday!

What are you here to do?
Thrive!

Therefore how we speak to ourselves is pertinent.
We spend the most time with ourselves; thus, we can also practice offering ourselves the same patience, compassion, and love we show others.

Your intention needs to be as pure for yourself as they are for others, or you're telling yourself and internalizing not feeling or being worthy of the same love.

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour and some style."
— Maya Angelou

“To think too much is a disease.
— Fyodor Dostoyevsky

I’ve started to observe my behaviour and energy levels. I’ve chosen to start listening to where my energy leads me, and I won’t lie and say it hasn’t been challenging.

I think I can affirm that I preferred staying in the dark because I feared what the light could do.

At times ruminating feels comfortable, even if it’s detrimental. At times it’s more comfortable to be miserable, hurt, or angry because trying to do anything else feels more daunting.

It takes courage to face the unknown, and sometimes I have it in me, while sometimes I don’t.

There’s no manual for this thing called life. Periodically, the best way to define it is to live it.
Self-healing takes baby steps.
And you're worth it
