Guess who’s BACK in the clinic? 🎉

Our pelvic health physiotherapist, Julia McDaniels has returned from parental leave. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome her!

Julia is a graduate of the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Medical Rehabilitation with a degree in Physical Therapy, and has extensive post-graduate training in pelvic floor / pelvic health. For instance, she's completed training to treat incontinence, pelvic pain, pain during in*******se, overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, and more.

She's also your go-to if you're a pregnant or postpartum runner, or if you are post-partum (Did you know a post-partum check-up with a physiotherapist is medically recommended?).

What makes Julia special isn’t just her credentials. It's also in her approach. She takes the time to really understand each patient, tailoring treatments to fit their needs, whether that’s active-based exercise, hands-on therapy, or high-quality education.

You know that sharp pain in your lower back, legs or hips that just won’t quit? 🤔 Sometimes it's your SI (sacroiliac) joint getting stuck or jammed.

Dana Bubenko, one of our physiotherapists, wants everyone to know something about the SI joint.

In this video, Dana explains that the SI joint is a common source of pain. It can be a sudden onset of pain, or pain you feel after a fall. But if she can treat it quickly, the pain can be eliminated in as little as one session. If you don't do anything and wait 6 months or so, it can become pain that comes and goes repeatedly. And that's harder to relieve later.

So don’t push through SIJ pain and hope it goes away on its own. Call our team for help ASAP. Dana is at our Rothesay location.

Think someone's decorating our walls with sticky notes?

Do not be alarmed - we don't have such terrible taste in decor. These sticky notes are actually a vestibular and concussion rehab tool. 👀

Those numbers and targets aren’t random. We use them as an ocular motor exercise to retrain eye and head movements, calm symptoms like dizziness, and improve balance. ✨ The coolest part: with our physiotherapists' instructions, our patients can easily recreate it at home with their own sticky notes.

The purple and yellow poster? Same idea. Not ugly décor, but a proven way to treat symptoms that flare up with eye and head movements.

What a week! On Friday, we had a staff appreciation event - team lunch and a double boat cruise at the Forks.

We are GRATEFUL for our staff and their dedication to creating an excellent patient experience at our clinic, now and for the past 40 years.

Of course, we're also grateful for getting sunny weather on Friday, and team time together (outside of the clinic).
