🌿 Exciting News! 🌿
I’m thrilled to share something that’s been in the works for a while — a new CEC course I’ve been collaborating on!
About four years ago, after my ADHD diagnosis, I started learning more about neurodiversity and how our brains shape everyday life — including how we plan, prepare, and connect with food.
That learning completely changed how I view nutrition care.
As a dietitian, I’ve always loved meal planning and prepping — it brings me calm and creativity. But I eventually realized that my own experience wasn’t universal. Without meaning to, I was viewing meal planning through a neurotypical lens, assuming what worked for me would work for everyone.
Over time, I’ve learned that meal planning is an occupation, influenced by executive function, sensory processing, daily routines, motor skills, and environment [to name a few].
I’ve collaborated with our OT to create a continuing education course that helps dietitians integrate OT-informed approaches into nutrition care:
✨ Meal Planning as an Occupation: Integrating Occupational Therapy and Dietetics ✨
This course bridges nutrition and occupational therapy to help dietitians support clients in ways that truly meet them where they are — honoring brain-based differences, lived experiences, and individual capacities.
