Shared Health is taking important steps forward in its commitment to addressing racism with the release of two comprehensive anti-racism policies.
These policies apply to all Shared Health employees, staff, board members, volunteers, students and learners, and independent contractors.
⚫ Anti-Racism Policy
⚫ Addressing Racism Toward First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples Policy
The Anti-Racism Policy establishes clear expectations and shared accountability to ensure our workplace is inclusive, respectful, and free from discrimination for all patients, families, and staff, while the Addressing Racism Towards First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples Policy recognizes the unique and ongoing impacts of colonialism and systemic racism towards First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples in healthcare, and affirms our responsibility to advance truth and reconciliation through meaningful action for both patients and staff.
Learn more about the policies and discover supporting documents, including a handbook for patients, families, and visitors, at sharedhealthmb.ca/about/racism-disrupted/policies-resources/.
The development of these policies would not have been possible without the invaluable contributions of individuals and partners across our healthcare system, as well as community and Indigenous organizations. We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who generously shared their time, knowledge, and perspectives to help shape these policies.
