We’re pleased to announce our new spring garden, created as part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations, has been planted! It might not look like much now, but we’re hoping our patience and faith in the future will be rewarded next year as the warmth of spring brings over 100 daffodils into bloom 🌼🤞.

Recovery is a deeply personal and often challenging journey. The words we choose can either uplift or unintentionally hurt someone who’s working hard to heal.

Here are some phrases to avoid, and why:

❌ “Just stop if you really want to.”
Recovery isn’t about willpower alone — it’s a complex process involving support, coping skills, and healing.

❌ “You look fine now; you must be over it.”
Recovery is ongoing. What you see on the outside doesn’t tell the whole story.

❌ “Everyone slips up sometimes.”
Minimizing relapse can make someone feel shame or guilt instead of encouragement to keep going.

❌ “Why can’t you be like [someone else]?”
Recovery is unique to each person. Comparing only adds pressure and pain.

Instead, try saying:
✅ “I’m here for you.”
✅ “I believe in your strength.”
✅ “Thank you for sharing your journey with me.”

Your kindness and understanding can make a world of difference.
