FIFTY THREE YEARS!!!!!
This week we said "Goodbye and Goodluck" to our co-worker, employee, and friend... Les.
Les started in the stamp industry in Winnipeg in 1973 shortly after graduating High School. After working on a Ludlow Typograph at the Winnipeg Free Press, he got a job down the street with Accurate Rubber Stamp working the same machine.
In 1993, Canadian Marking (later rebranded to CanMark Industries) purchase Accurate and Les along with it.
In 2025, Maple Leaf Rubber Stamp purchased CanMark, and Les came along for the ride again!
Les is one of the hardest workers we have ever met. He's a fountain of knowledge on engraving and stamp making. Anytime we had a question, you could just ask Les. He is a patient teacher and helped immensely both in the 1993 transition and in the 2025 transition.
Les worked nights, weekends, holidays, and whatever else was asked of him. It would be hard to find a building in Winnipeg that doesn't sport his handiwork somewhere inside. Les was also the Grey Cup official engraver for over a decade!
We're going to miss Les a lot around here. The most, We're going to miss his work ethic and his stories. But after 53 years at a company, you deserve a break.
The old team from Canadian and Accurate is thankful to have spent so much time with you, and your new team at Maple Leaf is just glad we got to meet you and learn from you in the short time we did.
Enjoy retirement, Les!
Have a drink for us 🥂
