incredible. this door is still standing as of today inside 468 Main Street in Winnipeg. We moved into the historic Birt's Saddlery building in 1932 and its absolutely incredible to see a piece of us still around almost 100 years later.

Hi 👋 It's been a while since we introduced ourselves!
This is the Maple Leaf / CanMark crew

(Top row, left to right)

-Barbara, Office Manager, has been with Canadian Marking since 1982, and worked in the stamp industry before that with another member of our team. We repeatedly lean on her years of expertise and knowledge to get the job done

-Willows, is Co-Owner and head of marketing and clerical. He's hanging around the office most days and you've probably spoken to him over email

-Les, head engraver, has been working with us for 50+ years in some way or another. Les is a wealth of knowledge and he has endless stories to keep us entertained. Wabsolutely adore the time he spends with us. Although he will be retiring soon, he's been an integral part of our journey.

-Zach, is our other Co-Owner and head of tech. Zach pops in to make sure our equipment is running smoothly and tuned up, our plan to modernize the businesses is going according to plan, sourcing suppliers, Bookkeeping, and all the behind the scenes stuff

-Alyssa, head of our ribbon department. Alyssa answers the call when she is needed to print all of our ribbons and rosettes. Her infectious smile keeps us motivated during long days and nights.

-Laura, engraver and stampmaker, mostly works in the back to make sure all your orders are going out perfectly! She's relatively new here but has already surpassed our expectations of quality and effectiveness.

Maple Leaf Rubber Stamp was founded in 1932. Over the past 93 years we have most certainly seen hundreds if not thousands of employees... but I think its safe to say that this is the best team ever 🧡

like many things we do, the ribbons are done the old fashioned way:

WW2-Era Heat Press retrofitted with a compressor to melt metal foil into ribbon
we set the text by hand from lead on a Ludlow Typograph

The ribbons are then cut by hand with pinking shears

It was great to meet you, Scott!

Mayor Gillingham wrote us a letter of commendation a few weeks ago regarding our acquisition of CanMark Industries. Of course, the Mayor loves this city almost as much as we do and we wanted to show him what we are working on!

We had a great conversation today about Maple Leaf, CanMark, our other ventures, as well as our future in the city.

He thanked us for setting up our businesses in Winnipeg... but Mayor, you don't need to thank us.
Winnipeg is the greatest city in the world and we couldn't imagine setting up shop anywhere else!

WE ARE HIRING

Position: Production / Typesetter

Company Details:

Maple Leaf Rubber Stamp is a Winnipeg-based manufacturing company that mainly produces rubber stamps, stencils & engraved signs. Founded in 1932, Maple Leaf has been making handmade products in Manitoba for almost 100 years.

Role Details:

This is a detail-oriented role that includes production of many different manufactured goods. You will be working with several pieces of specialized equipment to create rubber stamps, engrave metal and plastic nameplates and nametags, create plastic stencils, and manufacture other goods.

The role also includes taking orders from customers which you will proof and typeset. Typesetting done in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw. You will speak to customers on the phone or via email to identify how to create their required products.

This role will require you to problem solve as you work and maintain various pieces of equipment and figure out the best method to make each product. You will be working with other people, but many projects will allow you to work independently without direct supervision.

Job Responsibilities:

-Taking orders from customers on the phone or email
-Typesetting and sending proofs to customers
-Creating various products from different materials using different pieces of equipment
-Invoicing, packing and shipping products

Equipment Used:

-Laser engraving machine
-Rotary engraving machine
-”ColorDirect” nametag printer
-Plastic and metal shears
-Flywheel press
-Button press
-Ludlow Typograph (very infrequently)

Job Requirements / Assets:

Candidates with experience in the engraving or printing industry will be considered first.

Technical knowledge of industrial equipment, laser engravers, and computer programs like Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw will also be an asset.

Access to a vehicle in good working order is recommended as we are not very close to bus routes

$20/hr starting wage / 35-40 hours per week

Hours are Monday-Friday starting at 8am. Closed on Holidays.
