Mae’s Journey with CABB ❤️🩸🐾
Mae joined Angela’s family in April 2025. She is energetic and loves being outdoors, especially when playing with a ball. She enjoys spending time with her friends at PetSmart and Winners, plays every day with her favourite toy, and loves solving treat puzzles.
Before Mae’s surgery, Angela’s family had never heard of CABB, nor did they expect Mae to need donated support. When you look at Mae, you would never know she has Von Willebrand Disease, a genetic condition that causes her clotting process to take longer. Because of this, their veterinarian referred Mae to Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital for her spay, as CABB is located there.
Stories like Mae’s remind us that it isn’t only large dogs who benefit from donated support. These contributions can help dogs of all sizes, including smaller dogs like Mae, and can make a life-saving difference when it matters most.
During surgery, Mae required two units of Cryoprecipitate and one unit of donated support. She has since healed and is now living her best life. Without the generosity of donor dogs and their families through CABB, Mae would not be here today.
While Angela’s family hopes they won’t need CABB again, it is reassuring to know that if Mae ever requires surgery in the future, she can receive the life-saving support she may need.
Thank you to Angela for sharing Mae’s story with us—and to all the donor dogs and their families, your generosity truly means the world ❤️
