Happy Anniversary to us!!!!

40 years ago today, on October 20, 1985, the Hutton family, along with dignitaries and guests, gathered at 177 Egerton Road to officially open Jocelyn House Hospice. Since that day, we have carried forward the dream of Jocelyn Hutton: adding life to final days for those with a terminal illness, and their loved ones, by providing care and comfort in a warm, home-like setting.

A 1984 Winnipeg Free Press article titled, “Girl’s Death Inspires Try for Hostel… Family Donating Home as a Haven for Terminally Ill,” shared the Hutton family’s vision: a home that would evolve from home care, rather than devolve from hospital care — “a house where there is a very conscious emphasis on living.”

It is remarkable that four decades later, Jocelyn House continues to operate exactly as the Hutton family dreamed. But we can only continue this legacy with the generosity of donors like you.

Now hiring!!

We're looking for a professional individual to join our team on a permanent, part-time basis, for the position of Administrative & Development Assistant.

This position will be responsible for key administrative support function such as general office organization and efficiency; maintenance of the donor database and gift processing functions; payroll processing; support of fundraising and hospice activities; including administrative functions to support the Board, Executive Director and Management Team.

This position is a minimum of 32 hours per/week (.8 EFT) with some flexibility to increase/decrease hours at certain times of the year and will be determined with the successful candidate. This position is located at the Jocelyn Hutton Foundation Office (222 Osborne Street). Salary will commensurate with experience. Benefits package available. Posting closes on July 23, 2025.

Groceries for us and groceries for you!

Make a financial donation to the JOCELYN HOUSE HOSPICE GROCERY DRIVE and you will be entered to win a Grocery Gift Basket worth $175!!

One of the key elements in creating and maintaining our home-like environment for the terminally ill is home-cooked meals and fresh baking. We have a team of dedicated volunteers who donate their time and talents to prepare and serve dinner for the residents, every evening. As well, with their help, residents enjoy home-made baked treats, including cookies, pies and muffins. We have witnessed, almost without exception, how good food, lovingly prepared and shared around the ‘family’ table, not only strengthens the body but also creates a sense of belonging and contentment.

All online donations, of $40 or more, made between Monday, May 19 at 9:00am and Sunday, May 25 at 3:00pm will be included in our draw and receive a full tax receipt. The draw will take place at our 13th Annual Sunday Supper Fundraiser this weekend.

All donations made to the Jocelyn House Hospice Grocery Drive at the Sunday Supper will also be eligible.

Go Jets Go! Some of our hard working compassionate team is attending the Jets Whiteout Watch Party courtesy of the True North Community Zone. We are grateful for the opportunity to treat some of our staff in recognition of Nurse’s Week!
