I would like to announce my retirement from Precision Movement and therapies. My dream was to be part of a multidisciplinary clinic. I am proud to have worked and collaborated with talented practitioners, who have come together to create personalized treatment plans for patients. And as retirement is bittersweet, I am thrilled to see the multidisciplinary options continue at Precision with skilled practitioners. Thank you to all the people who came for visits, it has made for a wonderful clinical experience.

We are excited to have Dr. Brooke Hochman join the team at Precision Movement and Therapies. She will be accepting patients starting on August 21st, 2025.

“ Dr. Brooke Hochman earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Winnipeg in 2021, followed by her Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in 2025. During her clinical internship at both an interdisciplinary hospital in downtown Toronto and CMCC’s on-site clinic, she gained valuable hands-on experience managing a wide range of acute conditions and providing care and support for individuals living with long-term chronic pain.

Dr. Hochman is passionate about helping people feel more functional in their day-to-day lives. Whether it’s getting back to the activities they love, moving with less discomfort, or keeping up with the demands of family life. She helps people move and feel better through a combination of soft tissue therapy, joint mobilizations and manipulations, rehab exercises, and tailored lifestyle education. She holds an additional certification in functional integrated acupuncture, allowing her to incorporate this technique into comprehensive pain management treatment plans. With a warm approach, she provides care for people of all ages and stages of life.

Dr. Brooke Hochman was born and raised in Winnipeg and enjoys traveling, spending time at her family cabin in Winnipeg Beach, and staying active with Pilates and strength training in the gym. She is excited to return to her community, where she looks forward to fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and patient-centered environment that empowers individuals to achieve their health goals. “

What are your 2025 goals besides getting out of pain?
We will help you progressively reduce your pain, but your goals should help you increase the enjoyment in your life. Do you want to walk for 30 minutes or longer? Pick up your grandchildren? Ski or skate? Everyone has a goal outside of getting out of pain.

Why set exercise goals?
We all need to exercise. Writing down your exercise goals, committing to your goals, finding time and a suitable place, making sure they are challenging and attainable, and having support will all help you with your 2025 exercise goals. The practitioners at Precision Movement and Therapies can help you with your goal setting and support you in your 2025 exercise goals!

🔥 How to perform:
1️⃣ Feet shoulder-width apart.
2️⃣ Hip hinge with a neutral back and engage those glutes!

💪 Lift Smarter, Move Better: Why Lifts Matter 🚀

Ready to take your workout to the next level? 🏋️‍♂️ Lifts are where it all begins! These powerhouse movements engage multiple muscles 💥, build strength 🏋️, and improve how your body moves overall 🌟.

But what exactly is a lift? 🤔

A “lift” involves moving either a weight (like in deadlifts) or your own body (like pull-ups) through a range of motion 🔄. The magic ✨ of lifts lies in their ability to hit multiple muscles at once—also known as compound movements 🔥.

Why are compound exercises a game changer?
Here are five key reasons:

1. More muscles, less time ⏱️: Train multiple areas at once.
2. Stronger bones 🦴: Support long-term bone health.
3. Better coordination 🧠: Improve how your muscles work together.

📚🍜 LUNCH AND LEARN OCT 2024 ft. Dr. Chris Notley DC CAT 📚🍜

Lately, there’s a lot of chatter on social media about whether stretching is even worth your time. Dr. Notley talked about a recent study that put stretching to the test against resistance training to see which one is better for flexibility and strength. Here’s what they found:

📊 The Study:
Participants: Healthy, active adults were split into 3 groups: static stretching, resistance training, and a control group.
Duration: 8 weeks, with 3 sessions per week.
🏆 Results:
Flexibility: Both stretching and resistance training groups showed significant improvements in flexibility. The Sit-and-Reach Test showed nearly identical gains for both!
Strength: Resistance training had a clear advantage here, with big gains in hamstring and lower back strength, measured through the Isometric Deadlift Test.
💡 Key Takeaway:
While resistance training gives you a two-for-one benefit (flexibility + strength), stretching still holds its own, especially for improving flexibility. Don't believe the hype that stretching is useless—both methods have value depending on your goals!
