The last few weeks have been a journey through loss — not in a single moment, but in waves. Each drawing, each stroke of charcoal or color, has been a conversation with my own heart.

Grief has many faces… sometimes weary, sometimes wise, sometimes radiant through tears. These portraits are fragments of that process — each one a quiet prayer, a release, a remembering.

This piece, “Weight of Water,” came through me like a tide I couldn’t stop. Each tear feels like a small surrender — the kind that frees rather than weakens.

When we finally let it spill — the grief, the anger, the ache — we make space for light to enter again. The face here isn’t just sadness; it’s the sacred release before rebirth.

I came apart in color.
Each tear carried a memory—
each hue, a heartbeat I couldn’t hold.
The blackness didn’t swallow me;

as I spilled my sorrow into the world
so I wouldn’t drown in it.

I went walking with a friend at Bois-des-Esprits forest. We were deciding which trail to take when she looked over and said, “Let’s follow that angel.”

When we walked up to the angel carving, I couldn’t believe it—it had my name on it.
