Meet the team Monday!

Meet Taylor and Lando, the other two thirds of the senior staff team at Grand Beach.

Taylor is working her third year with ERRS and first year in a senior staff position. In September she'll be starting her studies to become a Paramedic. In her spare time she loves to read and bead.

Lando is working his fifth year with ERRS and second year as senior staff. This year he's been working as Assistant Captain at Grand Beach! During the year he's usually somewhere surfing, hiking, or working on the family farm.

Slow day at the beach? What do we do!?

At Winnipeg Beach and Grand Beach we always keep full staff on no matter the weather or the number of patrons at the beach. We always have BSO on patrol, ready to respond on the boat, kayak or by foot, rain or shine.

When we have down time we spend it checking equipment, different training exercises, inventory checks and much more!

We also pride ourselves in staying active during our shifts. Whether it's swimming or running during breaks, or doing workouts together by the station. We love a little friendly competition!

Meet the team Monday!

This is Emily, she is the captain over at Grand Beach! She is working her 6th year with us, and second year as a senior staff. She studies political science during the rest of the year and loves to crochet in her free time. She has also volunteered to build Rocky a new and larger tank this year!

Rocky is 18 years old and has been staying with the BSO's during the summer for 10 years. He's a fan favourite at the beach. The rest of the year he stays in Calgary with his family.

You can visit Rocky and Emily in Grand Beach anytime!

Meet the team Monday!

This is Rachel. She's working her third year with us at Winnipeg Beach. When she's not patrolling the beach she's hanging with friends, teaching swim lessons, or teaching aerial dance, which she's done for 9 years!

NDPW!

One of the best things to prevent drowning is water safety education! We take pride in our training we run every Spring before the season begins with our devoted National Lifeguard instructors.

Ask a BSO about how to become a BSO or pool lifeguard!

The Lifesaving Society runs many different lifesaving and swim courses. Check with your local pool of what courses are running. Or visit lifesaving.mb.ca for more information.

Meet the team Monday!

Working with us another year are Izzy and Mats.

Izzy is working her 4th year at Winnipeg Beach and 2nd year as the captain. When she's not with us in the summers she's planning another local hiking trip or traveling across the globe.

Mats is working his 7th year with us. Although he is picking up shifts at both sides this year, his heart is in Grand Beach where he started and was the Assistant Captain for 2 years. He's been studying to complete his Master's in Physiotherapy during his years with us and has graduated this year!

New to the area? Want to learn about water safety?
Come say hi!

The BSO's love to chat and talk about water safety, the local events and more. We offer beach safety presentations for any groups that are looking to learn. Come find us on the beach any day and we'll set up a time to help out!

Bonus: some of our BSO's know a thing or 2 about local birds. Seen in the photo is our Grand Beach Assistant Captain Landon with visitors taking a look at an osprey down the beach.
