Our Story

The Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba (LDAM) was founded in 1966 as The Manitoba Association for Children with Learning Disabilities (MACLD) by parents how found support in each other. MACLD was established as an affiliate of the national organization, the Canadian Association for Children with Learning Disabilities. MACLD was incorporated in 1972 and in 1986, our name officially changed to the Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba.

In the beginning, we primarily provided support and referrals to Manitobans. We gradually increased the awareness of learning disabilities through conferences, workshops, and speakers’ bureau.

Today, we provide support, advocacy and programming to support individuals and families impacted by learning disabilities and ADHD. We are grateful for the support of the United Way of Winnipeg and our volunteers who assist us in achieving our goals. Together, let’s end the stigma!
