Check out the budget breakdown by CCPA Manitoba executive director and MHC board member Molly McCracken to learn more about what the latest federal budget means for Manitoba by clicking on this shared post.

Here’s an excerpt on regarding the impacts on health care in particular:

“Budget 2025 announced $5 billion over five years for health care capital infrastructure, but without cash on the table to staff these new facilities it is unclear how useful this funding will be for small provinces like Manitoba. By not including any funding for operating or staffing, this federal budget offloads these responsibilities to the provinces, making Premier Kinew’s commitment to balance the Manitoba budget less likely.”

New facilities need staff to fill them. We can’t solve the recruitment and retention crisis in Manitoba health care with new buildings alone.

The budget tabled by the federal government on November 4 sets out a path that will worsen income inequality in Manitoba and squeezes the provincial government’s finances. The federal budget is focused on attracting $500 billion in private investment with only a handful of initiatives to help thos...

I had a chance to speak to Makaela, the editor of the Manitoban, at the rally for the restoration of international students public health care coverage last week.

Student journalism is so important and so is making sure that all students can access health care in our provincial without fear or financial barriers.

It was such a pleasure to attend the CCPA MB Errol Black fundraiser this morning! The CCPA is such an important voice for progressive policy and cutting edge research in our province. MHC is proud to have Molly McCracken, director of CCPA MB, on our board. It’s my privilege to work with Molly and Errol Black Chair in Labour Issues, Niall Harney, on research into health care spending, privatization levels, and outcomes in our public system.

Thank you to everyone at the CCPA MB for all that you do to advance the public good in our province. Today’s gathering was an inspiring reminder that together, we can build a better Manitoba and a better world.

At MHC, we believe health care is a right, not a commodity. We are committed to working collaboratively to ensure that everyone who resides in Manitoba has access to the same public system, regardless of income or citizenship status.

Today, I was proud to represent MHC and uphold our commitment to public, universal health care at the ‘Leg, where we rallied to call on the province to restore international student health coverage. It was a privilege to stand in solidarity with student organizers from the University of Winnipeg Student Association and the University of Manitoba Student Union and other community members who share MHC’s commitment to public health care access for all.

Let’s keep working together until everyone can access health care in Manitoba without fear.

I was proud to join a small but mighty crowd rallying outside of the Premier’s constituency office today calling on the government to keep their promise and restore public health care for international students.

This isn’t about handing out freebies, it’s about fairness. Everyone who spends time working, studying, and contributing to Manitoba’s economy and to our communities should have access to the same public system – one where people are seen based on their medical need, not their citizenship status or ability to pay.

Thanks to Healthcare For All MB for organizing and solidarity to all the people fighting for health care fairness in Manitoba.

Healthcare For All MB has organized a press conference calling on the provincial government to keep their promise to restore public health coverage for international students.

It’s time for the government to make good on this promise and ensure that all who reside in Manitoba can access public health care based on medical need, not their ability to pay.

Join the conversation at Wab Kinew’s constituency office (565 ½ Osborne St. Winnipeg) at noon today.

Thank you to MAHCP for inviting me to speak at your Member Advocate Conference earlier this month!! It was such a privilege to speak to frontline health care workers about what changes need to be made to improve the public system we all rely on. It was an important discussion full of insight into how we can work together to build a health care system that works for all Manitobans, no matter where they live or how much money they have. Frontline workers see the cracks in the system firsthand and have so much knowledge to share about how to address these problems.

Looking forward to more powerful conversations about how to defend and strengthen our public health care system all across Manitoba.
