"There is a point on the foot named “capsize” after it’s a long-tested function in returning a baby in breech to the correct position. Modern research has shown treatment using this point can turn a baby in breech with a success rate of 80%." (Escapada E-Magazine, 2021)
I love how the more modern medicine advances, the more we see the legitimacy of acupuncture!

If you're going through IVF, let acupuncture increase your chances of success!

Please Sign this Petition to Stop Deregulating Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine!

"Ministry of Labour of Ontario is going to dissolve the College of Acupuncturists and Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners CTCMPAO and make it an unregulated profession (Bill 88, 2022). That means those who are seeking for acupuncture and herbal treatment can be treated by every single person in Ontario who may never read acupuncture book before. Beside, extended insurance will not cover your acupuncture treatments any more!

This decision is terrible for not only practitioners, but for the general public. Acupuncture is an alternative medicine that not only involves onset practice, but also knowledge of anatomy and rationale behind every practice. In the meantime, herbs may interact with other medicines to make conditions worse if abused. It is important that proper education and examinations are given to protect the general public from harm. Since 2007, acupuncture in Germany has been reimbursed by the statutory health insurance, because the German government even funded the research on the effectiveness of this medicine (DOI: 10.1016/j.ctim.2006.09.005), and anticipated TCM as an alternative medicine can reduce government healthcare spending.

I hope you will join me to stop the terrible mistake the provincial government may make, to allow more Canadians to benefit from Chinese Medicine and relieve from this chronic health conditions in proper and cost effective way. Again, Traditional Chinese Medicine deserves higher regulation, more funding for research, because it has equal efficacy and safety as physiotherapy, Chiropractic and Naturopath, under good regulation."

Treat Winter Asthma In The Summer!

In China the dog days of summer are a prime time for preventing and treating winter health problems like asthma, bronchitis, poor immunity and sinus problems. In Traditional Chinese Medicine this is the ancient practice called D**g Bing Xia Zhi ---literally treating winter ailments in summertime.

Health problems that worsen in the winter are related to Yang deficiency (meaning not enough heat) with an excess of Yin (meaning too much cold). Expelling cold during the summer’s dog days, when Yang energy peaks as we are in the hottest time of year, will help to boost and nourish your Yang through the winter and prevent relapses in that time.

D**g Bing Xia Zhi involves 3 to 4 treatments on the four hottest days of summer according to the Chinese almanac. The dates in 2021 are July 21st, July 31st, August 9th and August 18th. During each treatment ten to fifteen tiny needles will be inserted into specific spots on your chest and back and will remain for 24 hours. Each point acts like a little door that is opened to let the summer heat in. The needles get taped in place so you can go about your day as usual. It is recommended to repeat D**g Bing Xia Zhi for three summers especially for patients that have had asthma or other health condition for a long time.

How to give yourself a Gua Sha facial:

Gua Sha is a great technique to improve the overall look and health of your skin.
It can be done daily if desired or 2-3 times a week for best results.

You want to start with clean and hydrated skin. Apply serum of your choice, this will also help the tool glide easily upon use.

Starting at the back of the neck you will place your tool flat and swipe upward until you meet the skull where you will end with a back and forth wiggle giving a small massage. Repeat for the sides of neck starting at shoulders and front of the neck starting at the collar bone always ending with the wiggle to help release tension.

Once you have completed the neck you will move to the Chin holding the center of your chin for support swipe your Gua Sha tool outwards until you meet your ear, again giving a small massage with a wiggle at the end. Next you will do the cheek holding the skin at the centerline with one hand for support and swiping the tool outwards, angle slightly upwards, meeting at the ear and ending with a wiggle.

Follow these same steps for under the eye, of course being much more careful and gentle in this sensitive area, then do the brow being sure to support the skin at the center or your face line pulling up and away from the middle. Lastly you can do the forehead with an upwards motion ending at the hairline.

You should feel relaxed and refreshed at the end of your treatment.

Important notes for technique: always use the tool at a flat angle, you don't want to use the edge of the tool. Apply light to medium pressure slowly as the aim is to relax the tissues and nervous system. Working from the bottom and swiping up and away from the midline.

Gua Sha is a specialized massage tool that is used with a scraping motion. Gus means 'scrape' and Sha means 'sand' believed to have been named for the sand like marks that appear after treatment.

Gua sha can be used to detoxify the whole body and promote healing. Not only does it help to reduce and relieve tension but it improves lymphatic function and releases stagnation in the body promoting new oxygenated blood to flow to the treated areas which facilitates healing.

This is a great tool if you want a fresh, glowy complexion for you face, as well as a natural and effective way to achieve a facelift. We have Gua Sha hand tools that can be used for the face and body as well as comb style tools for the scalp.

This is a relaxing and grounding practice that is definitely worth a try. @ Eastern Healing Center
