Spring refresh at Joy Somatics

7 years ago when I was realized teaching more somatics & breathwork than yoga, I hired Eva Rae Creative to shift from Yoga With Joy to Joy Somatics.

🛸This was a time when 'Somatics' wasn't in anyone's search bars
🌬Breathwork wasn't mainstream yet.

It was a big leap. Eva doula'd me through a major transition in my career.

Fast forward 7 years...⏳️🚀
Still moving, breathing & connecting ~ in even more effective ways.

Be sure to check out my new website & join me in celebrating the birth of this latest evolution in helping people MOVE, BREATHE & CONNECT their way to wholeness.

📢Shout out!
Thank you EVA of Eva Rae Creative for your personalized and pro approach ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ & mostly for creating a beautiful space for my clients to land.

Holding space for your body's wisdom.

Nearly 10 yrs ago while studying @ The Centre for Holding Space and shifting from teaching yoga into somatics & breathwork, I remember the struggle of 'career liminal space'.

"What on earth does this look like on a business card?"

Few people had heard of somatics, certainly not in Winnipeg.
~ I kept following my curiosity.
~ It was confusing and scary at times.
~ I had to dissolve my comfort zones.
~ I carved my own path & weaved it together.

Healing can also feel like an uncertain path with the stress of 'how will this all work out?'

The path is always through.

It's a constant privilege to light that path & hold space for my 1:1 nervous system recovery clients.

Do you have questions about how somatics & breathing behavior training can restore your resilience?
☆☆☆ Reach out by DM or use my online scheduler to book a Free 15 min. consult to discuss your symptoms.

Who wouldn't?

Something I value & can forget.

Here's what brings me back into remembering:

1. Immersing myself in things that evoke awe:
☆the skyline, babies laughter, others' stories, movement from felt sense, attuning to the moment in front of me.

2. Not getting too attached to the knowledge and certainty my nervous system & ego love.
☆ Not making assumptions, staying curious, using knowledge to inform intuition & structure to support the process, being willing to not know & be surprised.

What do you do when you are fixed in beliefs, in your head? What helps you soften into wonder?

Do we still facilitate Conscious Connected Breathwork Journies at Joy Somatics?

Yes. I still guide conscious connected breathwork (CCB) as a strategic tool in clients' nervous system recovery process & resiliency plan.

When facilitated well, CCB is a powerful method to ~Deepening self-awareness
~ Accessing state dependant material (i.e. beliefs that may have imprinted at certain levels of consciousness).
~ Provide opportunity to revisit & reframe past experiences
~ Acknowledge & process emotional and subconscious material
~ Provide an opportunity for completion of actions & sounds
~ Develop mechanical preferences and retrain breathing behaviours
~ and more...

How is this different than services offered years ago ?

Since incorporating breathing behaviour sciences into my work over the past 2 years, all clients receive breathing behaviour analysis to ensure CCB is appropriate for them and is 'the right tool at the right time' to serve client needs.

Measuring C02 levels also allows for monitoring during and after breathwork to ensure integration & clients safety before driving home.

While bigger peak experiences have their place in The Breathe Room, clients report they are surprised how much reveals itself with sublter practices.

This work is about widening your window of regulation over time. This means finding safety, growing awareness, time in new experiences- all leading to behavior-response change.

In my experience to date, clients -particularly those recovering from trauma- need to demonstrate a foundation of regulation before engaging in these more expansive, resiliency building experiences.

If you are curious about this work & what leads up to it, be sure to check out 'My Approach' in the About tab on my website.

Pausing to savor thru my senses.

After yesterday's blizzard, I'm fully enjoying this good day. Taking 10 minutes on my back deck to simply bask in the sun.

~ I hear birds chirpin & the dripping of snow melting.
~ I see the clear blue sky.
~ I feel the warmth of the sun & brightness in my eyes.
~ I'm tasting a cinnamon bun from

Ah Spring! We feel you on your way.

What are you taking in thru your senses today? Can you too pause to savor that sensation?

Your breath learns

Just like all our other habits and behaviours, the breath also learns how to get our needs met.

And sometimes a habit that helped solve a problem during a stressful event just isn't functional anymore.

And those no-longer-ideal habits can cause, exacerbate or maintain multi-system conditions & symptoms.

It's why I include breathing behaviour assessments & retraining into my 1:1 Somatic nervous sustem wellness sessions and passionate about sharing this work with other professionals.

Infinite perspectives on this perspective.

1 possible direction...

Belief systems run perty deep.

~About our health, our capacity for abundance & joy, our collective future...
~ Created by predictive coding from personal 'reality' (aka perceived experience).

Repattern & reprogramming don't happen overnight. Examples (if I'm recalling my 'science'correctly);
~ Neuroplastic changes take min. 6-8 weeks
~ Fascia replaces itself approx every 6 months
~ Most honest supplement co. will tell you to expect a month to feel the benefit of cellular changes

Real change takes consistent effort over time. ~'Abhyasa' as they say in yogic texts.
The other option is to believe your future is inevitable.

☆☆And therein lies 'choice', 'free will' & 'agency'. ☆☆

I'm curious how this quote landed in your own awareness?
I'll meet you in the comments with my second take, but in the meantime, I'd love to hear yours.
