It's generally a bit of both for me.
Escaping the hustle & bustle of the big city- the potholes & crowds, traffic & pace ...

& going towards wide open spaces, quiet, the wood stove & the pace of the country.

Wishing you a weekend of moving FROM the things you need space from & TO the places you get nourished in.

Recovery through space. I've learned to build it in.

I said YES to leading 5 workshops & creating an exhibitor booth within 6 weeks. Overlapping with a major brand update with . Divine timing with a splash of overwhelm.

I know my tendencies. I can get carried away by the dopamine of creation & connection. In the past it's led to dysregulation & burnout.

So in the midst of a fun & full couple of months, I'm also saying yes to;

~Weekends in the country doing slow things.
~My sisters invite for 'smoker chili' & connection
~A book by the fire
~Early to bed
~Space between things

We have seasons like this. We can consciously create space for our nervous systems to shift gears.

Heard the Buddhist story about the 2nd arrow?

The first arrow is what we experience in response to life: The pleasure, pain, nervousness, tension, delight, anxiety brain fog, freeze...

Then we experience the 2nd arrow: What we think about it. The self-critque, the worry, the fear this will never change or won't last.

And now we're looping and entrenching a pattern.

You usually cannot control the first arrow. And the 2nd one is also right there.

And when we allow what's here to be here, the 2nd arrow loses its velocity. It's easier to divert or pluck out.

"I'm experiencing this now"
Try it on for a day with neutral experiences
The next day, say it with experiences of enjoyment or comfort.
Then finally say it when things sorta suck.

You beat the 2nd arrow game when you can do this at your worst.

Just imagine the space.

I'm experiencing this now.

Habits are solutions & change begins with awareness.

Habits are our way of 'getting what we need' when we can't get what we -often unconsciously- really want.

Deepening self awareness means observing- without judgement (the tricky part) - how we behave & react while being compassionately curious about the why...

What motivates that habit?
What reinforces and maintains it?
Staying curious about why, even though this behaviour causes me suffering, do I unconsciously (and consciously) keep doing it?

Hmmm....with one hand on heart loving it.

This is the start gate for real lasting change.

Thanks to for this powerful reframe in my personal & professional life. It changed everything and influences my work everyday.
