New research is underway to test the early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease. The study, still at its initial stage, shows that a simple finger-prick blood test can spot early brain changes long before memory problems begin. Scientists found that rogue proteins like amyloid and tau can build up 15 years before symptoms appear. This new finger-prick blood test checks for these rogue proteins using only a drop of blood. Because of this, people can understand their risk sooner and take action while their brain still works well. Many doctors see this upcoming test as a major step toward faster, easier, and more accessible Alzheimer’s screening.
