In advance of International Women’s Day this weekend, we are proud to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary women who serve on the Health Sciences Centre Foundation Board of Directors: Katie Hall Hursh (Board Chair), Sarah Anderson, Tara Kroeker, Trish Gehlen Preston, Margaret Proven, Allana Schmidt, Monika Warren, and Jackie Wild.

Through their leadership, expertise, and unwavering commitment, they help guide the Foundation’s work to elevate health care for all Manitobans. Their governance strengthens Manitoba’s hospital and ensures that HSC_Winnipeg continues to advance excellence in patient care, research, and innovation.

“International Women’s Day is an opportunity to recognize the vital role women play across every level of health care; from leadership and administration, to research, frontline care, and philanthropy,” says Hall Hursh. “I am proud to serve alongside such dedicated women on our Board, and to support the incredible professionals delivering care to Manitobans every day.”

This International Women’s Day, we invite you to consider making a tribute gift in honour of these remarkable women and the collective impact they make. Your gift will help continue the work they so thoughtfully steward, advancing health care across our province.

Make your tribute gift today at https://www.hscfoundation.mb.ca/donate/ and join us in celebrating women who lead with purpose.

For some Manitoba patients with gynecologic cancer, a surgical option used to be off the table for safety reasons. Today, thanks to the donor-funded da Vinci Xi surgical robot, that reality is changing. Patients who once had limited options can now undergo safe, robot-assisted surgery that removes their cancer and gets them on the road to recovery.

We invite you to learn more at https://www.hscfoundation.mb.ca/stories/back-on-the-table/.

Celebrating two decades of service—and strengthening our community in the process.

To celebrate 20 years at their location, Waverley Chrysler launched a $20,000 anniversary raffle for new vehicle purchasers in November and December 2025, with one lucky winner receiving $10,000, and an additional $10,000 being donated to a charity of their choice.

We are grateful to share that contest winner Pooja Sharma selected the Health Sciences Centre Foundation as the recipient of that charitable gift.

Thank you to the team at Gauthier’s Waverley for creating an initiative that gives back to the community while celebrating an important milestone. Your leadership demonstrates how local businesses can make a meaningful impact for Manitoba families. Join us in celebrating both Gauthier’s Waverley’s generosity and their 20th anniversary!

A groundbreaking study at HSC_Winnipeg is changing the future of care for patients with chronic subdural hematomas.

Led by Dr. Jai Shankar, an interventional neuroradiologist at HSC Winnipeg, this made-in-Manitoba research is helping reduce the risk of recurrence and improving recovery for patients facing a serious brain bleed.

The future of health care is being researched right here in Winnipeg and it’s already influencing care far beyond our province.

One unforgettable evening. One record-breaking event. $1.8 million raised for health care in our province.

The HSC Foundation is proud to celebrate the remarkable success of Savour Mexico: Wine & Food Experience, presented by Garcea Group of Companies, held on February 21. It was an unforgettable evening that brought our community together in support of innovation and patient care at HSC_Winnipeg.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our guests, partners, and supporters, Savour Mexico generated more than $1.8 million, making it the most successful Savour event to date. Of that total, nearly $980,000 was raised through this year’s Fund-A-Need campaign and auction, which took an exciting and impactful turn.

A major investment is helping reduce surgical waitlists across our province.

The Health Sciences Centre Foundation has received $200,000 in combined support for its Operation Excellence campaign, thanks to generous contributions from CGI and Manitoba business leader Chuck Loewen.

With matching gifts of $100,000 each, this investment will help eliminate surgical waitlists and expand access to innovative, high-quality care for patients across our province.

Operation Excellence is a bold, $108 million initiative strengthening diagnostic and surgical capacity at HSC_Winnipeg—Manitoba’s hospital—including expanded operating room capacity, leading-edge technologies like Manitoba’s first surgical robot, and modernized patient-flow systems to improve outcomes and reduce backlogs.

We are deeply grateful to CGI and Mr. Loewen for helping move this work forward. Their leadership brings us closer to a future where Manitobans always receive the surgical care they need, when they need it.
