What are soft contact lenses?

When contact lenses were first worn, they were all made of a rigid material that did not adapt to the shape of the eye and weren’t always particularly comfortable.

Soft contact lenses are flexible and can match the shape of the eye, providing a high level of comfort without sacrificing vision. Soft contact lenses have become so popular that they are considered “normal” contact lenses these days, and patients will usually only wear rigid contact lenses if there’s a reason they can’t wear soft ones.

With many brands to choose from, a wide range of prescriptions available and daily, bi-weekly, or monthly replacement schedules, soft contact lenses are a go-to.

Have you heard of the Eye See Eye Learn program?

Village Optical is happy to be working with the Manitoba Association of Optometrists. They are offering a free pair of eyeglasses to all kindergarten-aged children.

An eye examination will be needed in order to determine if eyeglasses are necessary through the program.

Give us a call today to book your children in for an eye exam, and if needed our frame gallery will be happy to help choose frames eligible through the program!

It’s CVI awareness month,

Cerebral Visual Impairment is a disorder caused by damage to the parts of the brain that process vision. It’s most common in infants and young children and can continue into adulthood, and can also develop after a traumatic brain injury.

With school starting up again, it’s a great time to check in with your kids about how school is going and that their visual needs are being met!

This past Sunday was the Teddy Bear Picnic.
