This is Melissa. She is an athletic therapist with a deep and passionate knowledge of the body. If there was a Jeopardy! Category about anatomy, she’d sweep it. We’re certain. She loves to help people improve their health and achieve their potential. When she’s not joyously solving everyone else’s problems, Melissa is moving, likely in a pair of running shoes through Assiniboine Park, and always always stopping to admire the peonies. She also never says no to a patio. It’s plain to see that Melissa lives well.

She also intends to Leave Well.

Melissa is registered as an organ and tissue donor.

Altruism is a core value for Melissa. “I decided to be an organ donor because I can make a positive impact in more than 80 people’s lives,” she says, “and give the gift of life.”

Join Melissa and thousands of other Canadians.

Choose to leave well so others can live well.

I was working on the computer at the front desk in our waiting area when I noticed a vehicle had pulled over in front of our building (currently unable with the curb lane blocked on both sides of the street). I saw the driver outside the car holding the front passenger door while the young man in the front passenger seat leaning out of the car to vomit more since his baseball cap was full of vomit.

I grabbed a bunch of paper towel and cup of cold water then headed outside to offer them. I asked if there was anything else I could do to help them out like a bag for this young man's hat. The driver was surprised but grateful. I returned with paper towel that was wet (and a little sunlight dish soap to help clean up) and more dry paper towel. My colleague grabbed them a brown paper bag should they have farther to drive.

The driver shared that 1 of the 2 youth (who both appeared to be indigenous) had not been inside a vehicle for a long time. My heart went out for them.

I don't know their situation but I hope that act of kindness shows that we are "Friendly Manitoba."
