Family Dynamics

Family Dynamics Strengthening Relationships and Communities since 1936. Throughout the years we have evolved and adapted in response to emerging issues impacting family health.

Family Dynamics was originally conceived in 1936 to meet the needs of Winnipeggers where gaps existed in the social safety net. Our broad range of strengths-based programs and services are linked together with “family” at the core. We are committed to building family and community capacity

Our services are available to all Winnipeggers regardless of social or economic circumstances. Most services are delivered in the community in client homes, schools, child care centres and subsidized housing communities. While our counselling and EAP services along with facilitator training and workshops take place at our agency in the heart of Winnipeg.

The Manitoba government announced that digital health cards are now available! Apply for a digital card, plastic card, or both. No more family cards — each person needs their own. This makes it easier for individuals to carry or access their health card information when receiving care.

How to Access / Use:
💻Apply online for a digital card, a plastic card, or both via the Manitoba Health Card Registration portal.
📱For digital cards, the MB Wallet app is required to store it on a mobile device.

January 27 is Family Literacy Day. This year’s theme is Make Mealtime Family Learning Time. Talking, listening, sharing stories, following recipes, and making shopping lists are simple (and tasty!) ways families can build literacy together.

Mealtime literacy is not about formal lessons. It includes everyday activities such as:

🙂Talking about the day
🫶Sharing stories and experiences
🍏Following recipes or reading food packaging
🍇Making shopping lists
🙋Asking questions and taking turns in conversation
⭐️Even small moments at the table help build language, confidence, and connection for children and caregivers alike.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.

Be on the lookout for these three signs of frostbite:
❄️ Change in skin’s colour or texture
❄️ Pain or stinging
❄️ Loss of feeling

If you are concerned about a community member during extreme weather, please call 2-1-1 so they can get the support they need to be safe.
