Rehabilitation Centre for Children

Rehabilitation Centre for Children The Rehabilitation Centre for Children (RCC) provides services to children living with disabilities.

The Rehabilitation Centre for Children (RCC) supports children and youth in Manitoba and surrounding areas in achieving their goals and participating in their communities. RCC provides services to children with physical and developmental challenges. Children from birth to eighteen (twenty-one if still in school) are eligible for services from the Centre. RCC receives its funding from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA), Manitoba Health, the Department of Families, a number of Manitoba School Divisions, and the Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation. Together, with children, youth, families and our partners, we promote excellence in children’s rehabilitation and developmental pediatrics through innovative clinical service, education, research and technologies. Our vision is to give children and youth who receive services from the Rehabilitation Centre for Children the opportunity to reach their full potential. And for all families and caregivers to have easy access to the knowledge, services and resources that they need to support their children in discovering this potential.

🌟 Happy Elderberry Day! 🌟

Today we honour and celebrate the Elders who guide, teach and uplift our communities. We are incredibly grateful to walk alongside two remarkable Elders: Mary Wilson and Helen Robinson-Settee.

Mary Wilson—Ogemow Ke Pemotet Neya Hiskanawa (Leader of the people in the four directions)—carries wisdom from three lines of Indigenous shamanism: North America, Ireland and New Zealand. Kin to the Wolf, Mary’s work focuses on strengthening individuals and rebuilding communities. Through her healing practices, therapies, and spiritual guidance, she supports growth and wellbeing for children, families, and entire communities.

Helen Robinson-Settee, Anishinaabe from Dauphin River First Nation in Manitoba’s Interlake region, is the Director of the Indigenous Inclusion Directorate with Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning. With both a Bachelor and Master of Education from the University of Manitoba, Helen brings together academic excellence and deep cultural knowledge. As a grandmother of three, her passion for ensuring Indigenous children see themselves reflected in education, and feel proud of who they are, shines through in all she does.

Together, Helen and Mary embody the strength, wisdom and care that define true leadership. Their teachings remind us that when we invest in our children, we invest in our future, and that strong communities begin with connection, culture and compassion.

Miigwech, Helen and Mary, for your guidance, your wisdom and your unwavering dedication to the next generation. 💚
