Nutrition is the King and Queen to your personal fitness!

Whether your goal is fat loss or muscle gain, your food intake will dictate your progress. You'll see people working out relentlessly, months go by and they never seem to change. This is because they can't get their food right. Be consistent with your portion sizes, day in and day out, even on the weekends. You'll then find whether you need to increase or decrease portions for your goals. Eating more often doesn't "boost" metabolism, per se', but it does help prevent the cravings when you are eating every 3-4 hours.

Remember as a youth, running around collecting as much candy as possible, coming home, dumping the candy on the floor and counting your "treasure"?

I was introduced to ingenious way to make sure jasper didn't totally sugar overload on candy and we loved it!

1- Your kids worked hard running, knocking doors and enjoying the experience of Trick-or-Treating. That night, allow 5 pieces of candy, whichever ones they want. It was limited to 5 though. Remember, moderation in all things is best.

2- Tell them that we were in communication with "Jack, the pumpkin king" and that he would make an exchange for their candy. Jack would exchange all but 20 pieces of their candy (again, their choice of which 20 pieces they get to keep) for a toy or dress up of their choice within a $20. Then take the remaining bag to give to "Jack."

3- Limit the remaining candy your children have to just 1 piece per day and they will be done with halloween candy in 3 weeks.

Bonus to this is that you won't have a ton of candy floating around the house for you to be tempted with. Your kid will have a very close watch on those remaining 20 pieces, so your chance of sneaking some goes

Happy Halloween!!

Cheat meals... We should never think of our nutrition like we have a free for all for a meal. Do we ever get a free for all with money we get to spend? Nope. We have a budget and it's best we stick to it, even on the weekends.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying foods we love, we just need to make sure they are accounted for in your nutrition budget.

Eat smarter than yesterday, train harder than yesterday, realize that you are worth every moment you invest into bettering yourself and that it will translate into the other relationships in your life.

A little reminder to all my clients! Keep at it and don't be too hard on yourself :)

Nothing worthwhile is a quick fix! There will be bumps and ups and downs on your journey. A special shake, cutting out gluten or carbs, or "21 day fix" is not the answer!
