"fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes, nuts, & seeds. Also, you will notice there was no mention at all of any of the high protein diets that are the rage these days. Not one. Sometimes the machines are better at sifting through all the noise and getting to the point."

Chat GPT is a cutting-edge artificial intelligence program that generates dialogue. Created by the company Open AI, this chatbot uses machine learning algorithms to process & analyze large amounts of data to generate responses to a wide variety of inquiries. It was trained on roughly 300 billion words, pulled from a wide variety of curated sources.

So we asked: Chat GPT, what is the healthiest diet on the planet? It’s response⬇️

“There is no one-size-fits-all answer to the healthiest diet on the planet, as individual nutritional needs can vary based on factors such as age, gender, genetics, activity level, & underlying health conditions. However, many experts recommend a diet that emphasizes whole, minimally processed foods & includes a variety of nutrient-rich foods:

1. Mediterranean Diet: This diet is inspired by the traditional eating patterns of countries around the Mediterranean Sea. It focuses on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins (such as fish & poultry), healthy fats (such as olive oil), nuts, seeds, & legumes. It also includes moderate consumption of red wine & limits processed foods, sugary sweets, & red meat.

2. Plant-Based Diet: A plant-based diet places a strong emphasis on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, & legumes, while minimizing or avoiding animal products. This type of diet can be vegetarian or vegan, depending on whether or not you include any animal products.

3. DASH Diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension): The DASH diet is designed to help lower blood pressure & promote heart health. It emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, & low-fat dairy products, while limiting sodium, sugary foods, & red meat.

4. Flexitarian Diet: The flexitarian diet is a flexible approach that combines the benefits of a vegetarian diet with occasional consumption of meat & animal products. It encourages plant-based foods while allowing some flexibility for personal preferences.

5. Whole Foods-Based Diet: Emphasizing whole, unprocessed foods & avoiding highly processed & refined foods can be beneficial for overall health. This includes foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, nuts, & seeds.”

Notice any commonalities? Seems that even our AI overlords get it: fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes, nuts, & seeds. Also, you will notice there was no mention at all of any of the high protein diets that are the rage these days. Not one. Sometimes the machines are better at sifting through all the noise and getting to the point.🌱

Skydiving innovator Luigi Cani undertook a bold initiative in the Amazon rainforest, with the goal of combating deforestation. He planned to disperse 100 million seeds from 27 indigenous trees!

Navigating hurdles such as obtaining permissions, designing an eco-friendly seed container, and moving gear, Cani performed the dive flawlessly, releasing seeds from an altitude of 6,000ft.

The endeavor has an impressive 95% seed sprouting success, and the emerging trees are expected to reach heights of up to 50m. Inspired by this success, Cani is now gearing up for his next green mission - tackling oceanic plastic waste through skydiving.

NOvember is Nitric Oxide Awareness month.
“Dr. Esselstyn has called it a “magic molecule” that keeps blood flowing like Teflon rather than becoming sticky like Velcro. Nitric Oxide helps prevent blockages, keeps the arteries from becoming inflamed and helps the heart widen during physical activity” -Chicago Tribune

Experts at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) are at the forefront of this research. Hematologic oncologist Urvi Shah cares for people with plasma cell disorders, including multiple myeloma. Medical oncologist Neil Iyengar treats people with breast cancer. Both conduct research aimed at understanding the interplay between nutrition and cancer.
Drs. Shah and Iyengar recently conducted a review of studies that examine the relationship between diet and cancer. They focused on two of the most popular diets — a whole foods, plant-based diet and the keto, or ketogenic, diet.
Their review was published in JAMA Oncology in July 2022 and offers important new insights into which of these two very different approaches are best for people concerned with reducing their cancer risk and improving their health after treatment.

Dr. Shah: We get many questions about a plant-based diet, as there is more awareness of the health benefits of plant foods, especially the importance of fiber, which is only derived from plants. There is now a large and growing body of scientific research about these two diets. The concepts behind these diets are diametrically opposite. So comparing the research to understand differences about both of them is helpful.
Dr. Iyengar: There is growing evidence that weight loss is helpful for reducing cancer risk, particularly for obese and older people, including the postmenopausal age group. Both keto and plant-based diets have proven effective for weight loss. However, there is less available data to answer whether the benefits of these diets extend to cancer. Most of the available data support a whole foods, plant-based diet over a ketogenic diet for reducing the risk of cancer. After a cancer diagnosis, a plant-based diet still appears to be superior.

Currently available data support a plant-based diet versus a ketogenic diet as part of a lifestyle associated with reduced cancer risk.
