Four large grandmother stones, with intricate artwork by Natalie Rostaddejarlais, mark the four directions. The Keepers of Kapabamayak Achaak Healing Forest offer our deepest condolences to the family of the Honourable Murray Sinclair, Mazina Giizhik-iban. We were so honoured to have him speak at the launch of Healing Forest back in 2018. We hope we can honour his legacy in some small way as we continue to memorialize the many who lost their lives or survived the residential school system. As the Honourable Sinclair once said: "We should never forget... because it's part of who we are. It's not just a part of who we are as survivors and children of survivors and relatives of survivors, it's part of who we are as a nation. And this nation must never forget what it once did to its most vulnerable people."
