Before and after ✨

Anti-wrinkle treatments are truly about the subtle refresh — the kind that has people saying, “You look so rested!” without ever knowing why.

Once your neuromodulator is in full effect, the skin appears smoother, a little brighter, and overall more refreshed. It’s not about looking different — it’s about looking like you on your best day.

The added bonus for this client? We incorporated a lip flip, and the difference was so noticeable you might almost think she had filler. The upper lip gently everts, creating the illusion of more volume without adding any. A perfect little cherry on top. 🍒

This gorgeous girl had been treated once in the past and was ready for a subtle pick-me-up — and I think she got just that. 🩷

Treatment Plan:
Product: Dysport
• Frontalis (upper forehead): 6 units
• Glabella (frown): 21 units
• Lip flip: 6 units

Subtle. Balanced. Intentional.

As always — individualized dosing, full facial assessment, and natural results are the goal.

Thank you for trusting me with your face, allowing me to share your photos and being my instant soul sister 🩷.

“Don’t put too much Botox, I don’t want to look crazy!”

Don’t worry… we agree ☝🏽✨

But let’s unpack this a little.

First — we can’t blame the Botox. Neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport weren’t formulated to make anyone look “crazy.” They’re cosmetic and therapeutic medications with decades of research behind them.

What determines the outcome?
👉 Placement.
👉 Dosing strategy.
👉 Facial assessment.
👉 Injector understanding of anatomy and balance.

To prove this point, the amazing nurse injector Amber RN and I teamed up for a little science experiment.

We strategically placed over 100 units of Dysport in my face — not to freeze, not to distort — but to balance and support the way my muscles naturally move.

And the results?
• Brows lifted
• Crow’s feet softened
• Lower face subtly lifted
• Smile more symmetric
• Jaw tension reduced
• Neck bands softened

No “crazy.”
No frozen mask.
Just intentional placement.

Treatment plan breakdown:
• 6 units – upper forehead
• 21 units – frown
• 12 units – crow’s feet
• 10 units – chin
• 6 units – DAO
• 32 units – masseters
• 36 units – neck bands

More units does not equal more frozen.
Poor placement equals poor results.

The art is in the assessment. The science is in the anatomy. And the magic is in the balance. ✨

The Heart Behind the Needle 💉♥️

Why pursue a career in medical aesthetics?

Four years of practicing medical aesthetics under the direction and mentorship of the incredible Dr. Courtney Mazeroll has brought me to many moments of reflection.

The most recent — and most impactful — is this:

From childhood into my adult years, I was targeted for many reasons — my body type, the acne on my face, the clothes I wore, the way people perceived me. That’s where my struggles with self-confidence began.

But it’s also where I made myself a promise:
I would not let the way others treated me harden me — I would let it soften me.

In my late teens, I joined the military with a dream of going to university to study psychology and specialize in helping those living with PTSD. I was laughed at.

After having my oldest daughter, I redirected my path and went to nursing school with the dream of making a difference in people’s lives. I dedicated years to our local hospital, serving in the ER and ICU.

And yet… a piece of me still felt unfulfilled.

So I pursued medical aesthetics.

Four years into walking alongside people in their journeys, I’ve learned something powerful:

Aesthetic treatments are rarely about vanity.
They’re about heartbreak.
They’re about the emotions that surface when we look in the mirror.
The photos we avoid.
The comments made to us as children that somehow still echo in adulthood.

I have been so immensely privileged to hear people’s stories and to be part of their healing.

I’ve had clients tell me that treatment gave them the courage to:
• Post a photo with their children
• Go on that date
• Stay when the camera came out at their best friend’s wedding
• Share a picture with their partner
• Smile at their own reflection

My career thus far at Apothika has been deeply rewarding. What many clients don’t know is this:

When I help heal a small part of them, it heals a piece of me too.

There’s a perception that injectables are about big lips, smooth foreheads, and vanity. In my experience, it’s rarely about that.

It’s about the story.
It’s about the journey back to confidence.
It’s about self-love.

One beautiful client recently told me she reached out because she feels like a flamingo ready to “get her pink back.”

And it feels like we’re on the right track. 🦩

You’ll still find me at our local ER — perhaps triaging you when you come through the emergency room doors — or running laps around a busy ICU.

I am so incredibly grateful for all of our clients who trust us, support us, and allow us to be part of their journey.

Thank you. Truly. 🫶🏼

Before & After ✨

One of my favourite parts of what we do at Apothika is staying connected with our clients as their treatments begin to work. I love when you keep me in the loop — those little updates as you start noticing changes are everything.

This beautiful before and after was sent to me by a wonderful first-time client who is truly benefiting from anti-wrinkle therapy. She had previously tried skincare and even acupuncture, looking for improvement in her forehead lines.

These photos show her face completely at rest — and the difference is remarkable. Her horizontal forehead lines are either significantly softened or no longer visible.

With continued treatment over time, any remaining etched lines will continue to improve. And while treatment is active, those lines won’t deepen and new ones won’t form in that treated area. Prevention and correction? Win-win.

The most meaningful part? She shared that she’s having a more positive experience when looking in the mirror now. And that’s what this is really about — feeling aligned, refreshed, and confident in your own skin.

Thank you, Botox — we love you 🙏🩷

✨ Botox: More Than Just a Cosmetic Treatment ✨

While most people come to us for smoothing lines, Botox can also have meaningful effects on mental well-being. Here’s how:

🌿 What Is Facial Feedback Theory?

The facial feedback hypothesis is a beautifully simple idea: our facial movements send signals back to our brain that help shape our emotional experience. In other words, your face doesn’t just show how you feel — it helps create how you feel. For example, smiling can reinforce joy, and furrowing your brow can reinforce tension or sadness.

🌿 Mood Support: Relaxing frown and forehead muscles can help reduce the brain’s “stress signals,” supporting a calmer, more positive emotional state.

💫 Confidence & Self-Perception: Seeing a reflection you feel good about can boost self-esteem, helping you feel more comfortable and confident in social and professional situations.

🧠 Positive Mindset Reinforcement: Over time, looking in the mirror and seeing a refreshed version of yourself can retrain your brain to associate your appearance with positivity rather than self-criticism.

😌 Stress Relief: Less facial tension can contribute to an overall sense of ease, making everyday interactions feel a little lighter.

At Apothika, we celebrate treatments that support both outer radiance and inner well-being. Botox isn’t just about aesthetics—it can be a subtle, uplifting tool for how you feel every day!

What’s the difference between Botox and dermal filler?

Let’s break it down 👇

Botox
Botox is a prescription medication measured in units and has a consistency similar to saline. It works by binding to receptors within the muscle, relaxing it and reducing muscle contraction. This helps smooth both dynamic lines (lines with movement) and static lines (lines visible at rest).

Botox has a pharmacokinetic lifespan in the body. It takes about two weeks to reach full effect, maintains that result for roughly 10 weeks, and then gradually wears off—typically between 12–14 weeks, when muscle movement slowly returns.

Botox can be used for both aesthetic and therapeutic purposes, including:
• Line softening
• Facial asymmetry
• Facial slimming
• TMJD
• Migraines
• Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

Dermal Filler
Hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler is an injectable gel that mimics the HA naturally found in our skin. Filler is measured in millilitres (mL) and works by restoring volume, structure, and hydration.

Filler is strategically placed in areas such as the temples, cheeks, chin, jawline, tear troughs, and lips to:
• Replace lost volume
• Correct asymmetry
• Blend scarring
• Restore hydration
• Soften or enhance facial contours

Results are immediate and continue to improve as the filler integrates into the tissue. Depending on the product used and the area treated, filler can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. A major benefit of HA filler is that it is reversible, if needed.

Still not sure which is right for you?
Totally normal. Even with a clear understanding of what Botox and filler do, it can still be difficult to know which treatment—or combination—will best address your concerns.

That’s where we come in 🤍
With years of clinical experience, we take a thoughtful, customized approach to treatment planning. During our complimentary consultations, we’re happy to walk you through all your options and help you choose what best aligns with your aesthetic goals.

Who doesn’t love a little Botox journey?! 🤍

Before & afters are amazing… but what’s even better is watching the medication take effect day by day.

In this video you’ll see my face:
• immediately post-treatment
• day 1
• day 3
• day 5
• day 7
• and at the 2-week mark 🎉

No two people experience Botox the same way. While it takes a full two weeks to reach peak results, the day you start noticing changes varies. Some people see differences within 24 hours, but most begin to notice visible softening around days 4–6.

The same idea applies to longevity. Movement typically begins to return around week 10, though some clients get more time and some less. If longevity is a concern, working closely with your injector matters — there are options, and we’ve got you covered.

Botox is dose-dependent: smaller doses may wear off sooner, while higher doses can help extend results (when appropriate and safely planned).

✨ My treatment breakdown:
• Upper forehead: 6 units
• Frown (11s): 21 units
• Crow’s feet: 8 units total (4 per side)
• Lip flip: 8 units
• Chin: 8 units

⏳ My results lasted 14 weeks, until I was back to baseline!

Hope this helps 🩷

Your glow is calling… are you going to answer? ✨

We are so grateful for your interest and trust in our team and spa. With a big influx of consultation requests, we’re staying true to what matters most to us — your comfort and convenience.

Life is busy. Between work, kids’ schedules, errands, and all the things, finding time isn’t always easy. Many of our clients also travel to see us, and we get it 🫶🏼

I absolutely love meeting clients in person for consultations — but how does a consult in your jammies, on your couch, coffee in hand sound?
Or maybe you shut your office door and pretend you’re on a conference call 😉

This week I trialed FaceTime consultations, and I’m happy to say they were a huge success!

If travel time or a busy schedule has been holding you back, I’d love to offer a virtual consultation where we can:
✨ discuss all concerns
✨ explore all treatment options
✨ answer every question
✨ provide customized treatment pricing

As always, consultations remain complimentary.

FAQs with Nurse Injector Bianca, R.N 🫶🏼

Continuing our series of frequently asked questions from first-time consults, today we’re talking about one of the most important concerns:

“Is my treatment plan within my budget?”

I often hear clients say,
“I wish I knew sooner that Botox actually fit into my budget.”
or
“I thought I needed to save $500–$1000 before booking.”

So let’s do a little girl math 💁🏻‍♀️✨

Botox maintenance is often comparable to other beauty services like lashes or nails—services that feel manageable because they’re paid bi-weekly.

For example:
$70 every two weeks over three months = $420

If you came to your Botox appointment with $420, that would equal approximately 52 units — nearly half a vial of Botox just for you.

At a first appointment, most clients choose to treat one or two areas, most commonly the frown lines and/or forehead, which often averages around 27 units.

Of course, no two treatment plans are the same. Dosing is fully individualized and based on your anatomy, goals, and movement.

If you’d like to explore options, we’re always happy to offer a complimentary consultation 🤍

Hope this helps break it down!
