15 yrs ago or more, I took a course specific to Breast Massage & Scar work. It was a course designed to help clients manage the aftermath of surgeries/mastectomy etc. we were taught mainly about technique with the possibility of an emotional release.
We had a clinic where clients could come in and get work done. The lady that i was working on was 53 yrs old, and had gall bladder surgery when she was a little girl. She was quite young and her parents were having a hard time getting the doctor to believe the level of pain she was in. They had brought her back many times to the point where even her parents started to question if her pain was really as bad as she was saying.
Turns out, she ended up needing surgery. She has a huge scar. A thick angry scar. She came to me to have it released, to see if it would help with the chronic pain she had been experiencing.
That day, we did more than just release a scar.
You see, the body doesnāt differentiate emotional and physical pain, so when we released that scar she let go of all the trapped emotion, the experience, the fear, the frustration. She cried. She was surprised that this happened.
It made complete sense to me.
And she told me that she finally felt validated.
She shared her story as I was working on her scar. To the day of the week and hour of the day, she remembered the details. Her emotions were intense & so valid.
She left feeling lighter and freer with far less back pain.
This post is the emotional side of scars, we can get into the anatomy if you ever have some work done š«¶š»
Chronic pain can be the result of a scar thats holding trapped emotions and the experience of it.
