An RMT in British Columbia recently created a new federal petition to gather further support for HST/GST exemption for massage therapy in Canada.

This petition is sponsored by MP Brad Vis, who has previously championed similar exemption petitions directed towards the previous federal government.

A related petition, recently presented in the House of Commons by Newfoundland MP Jonathan Rowe, has already mandated a government response. Every new petition presented with maximum signatures further amplifies our collective voice and compels the government to act on this crucial issue.

There’s a sacred stillness found beneath the base of the skull - a place where stress melts, breath softens and the body remembers how to let go. This is often times where my clients will exhale, sometimes for the first time during their treatment.

In that quiet hold, the mind softens
The spine unwinds, and calm begins to rise.

This is not through force but by presence. Holding space. Creating safety for the nervous system.

This sweet little one went building forts with her Mom while waiting for her brother to have his Massage.

It doesn’t get more wholesome than this. Little did she know how dear the Inukshuk is to my heart , symbolizing friendship and community.

I am so thankful for my beautiful practise & the people I’ve met and become friends with along the way.

I will never forget the first Massage Therapy treatment I had after my Aunt passed away.

My brain has always associated my Massage as a reprieve, a safe place, a time to reset. A place that I could exhale and feel my parasympathetic nervous system engage.
That Massage felt like relief that I had never felt before.

She did Myofascial release which helps to process stored emotion. I felt validation, I felt heard and I felt safe enough to cry.

Grief can be caused by many things in life.

- death/loss of a loved one
- divorce or breakup
- loss of a pet
-estrangement from family or friends
-aging or changes in body
- chronic illness
- loss of fertility
- job loss or financial hardship
- Moving away from home, city or country
- grieving the state of the world
- loss of trust ( in intuitions, people and self)
- anticipatory grief (with aging parents)

Massage therapy regulates the nervous system by lowering cortisol, decreasing muscle tension and activates the parasympathetic nervous system. Grief hijacks our nervous system and keeps us in the fight or flight response.

Massage Therapy can help restore balance and in doing this supports the immune system and promotes sleep health.

Massage Therapy can release held tension due to stress holding patterns in the jaw, neck, chest and gut.

Massage Therapy/MFR help to release stuck energy which may be contributing to physical pain.

There is no need to talk. No need to divulge.

Consider using Massage Therapy as part of your health care team for Grief 🫶🏻
