As the weather gets colder for many of us, it can be hard to say goodbye to the activities we enjoyed while the weather was warmer. There is a grief in that change, and many people struggle with it. Combine that with decreased daylight, and many people report their mental health can be more difficult in the colder months.

It's important to allow ourselves to lament those changes, because those tough emotions are valid. However, it's also important to not just let things stay there and not look for ways to fill those gaps. We can be intentional about cultivating hobbies and activities that work well in colder weather so we can maintain or even increase our experiences of creativity, enjoyment, and social connection.

These are only a few ideas. Not everyone enjoys the same activities, and you know best what lifts your spirits.

What activities or hobbies bring you the most joy in the colder months? Let us know!

DBTSkills. Emotion Regulation Module. DBT deals with all emotions and says that no emotions are ' bad' or ' good'.

We need the whole range. Including anger.
What we usually need to learn to do is manage our anger and learn to express it appropriately.
Below is the infographic ' the Anger Volcano' which illustrates what happens when we don't have the skill to regulate anger.

DBT Emotion Regulation Skills help with this.
