Praxis für postoperative und integrative Rehabilitation - Narbentherapie - Lymphdrainage - Schwangerschaftsbetreuung - Bewegungsklassen

Recovery Space ist eine spezialisierte Praxis für postoperative Nachsorge, die sich der ganzheitlichen Rehabilitation Ihrer Patient:innen verschrieben hat. Unsere Fachgebiete sind insbesondere die Behandlung von Patient:innen aus den Bereichen Onkologie, Orthopädie, Gynäkologie und Unfallchirurgie, sowie Verbrennungsmedizin. Unser Ziel ist es, individuell abgestimmte Rehabilitationspläne zu erstellen, die Ihre Genesung best möglichst unterstützen. Dabei kombinieren wir manuelle Therapien, Bewegungstherapien sowie Schulungen zur Selbstbehandlung, um einen umfassenden Ansatz zu gewährleisten. Neben der postoperativen Nachsorge gehört zudem die therapeutische Schwangerschaftsbetreuung zu unseren Expertisen. Die Praxis befindet sich im 1.OG WEST. Das Gebäude ist mit Lift und IV-Toilette ausgestattet und somit rollstuhlgängig. Wir sind ein Team von Medizinischen Masseurinnen eidg. FA und sind von allen Schweizer Krankenkassen über die Zusatzversicherung für Komplementär- und Alternativmedizin anerkannt. Alle Therapeutinnen sind bei folgenden Qualitätsinstitutionen und deren Therapeutenlisten registriert: EMR, ASCA, VISANA und EGK. Recovery Space is a specialised practice for post-surgical aftercare, dedicated to the holistic rehabilitation of patients from oncology, orthopaedics, gynaecology and trauma surgery, as well as burns survivors. Our aim is to create customised rehabilitation plans that best support your recovery. We combine manual therapies, movement therapies and self-care training to ensure a comprehensive approach. In addition to post-operative aftercare, our expertise also includes therapeutic pregnancy care. The practice is located on the 1st floor WEST. The building is wheelchair accessible, equipped with a lift and special toilets for disabled patients. We are a team of Swiss certified medical massage therapists and are recognised by all Swiss health insurance companies through the supplementary insurance for complementary and alternative medicine. All therapists are registered with the following quality organisations and their therapist lists: EMR, ASCA, VISANA and EGK.

I truly appreciate the opportunity to contribute to raising awareness of integrative scar rehabilitation and the important role skilled, trauma-informed care plays in supporting people living with complex and long-standing scars.

It is a privilege to work within a field that recognises the profound physical and emotional impact scars can have, and to be part of a professional community committed to thoughtful, evidence-informed, and person-centred practice. I value the Restore Therapy community’s dedication to education, collaboration, and advancing standards of care, and I am grateful for the platform to share this approach more widely.

Eine Operationsnarbe kann ruhig, glatt und objektiv „schön“ aussehen.

Doch das äußere Erscheinungsbild erzählt selten die ganze Geschichte.

Die wichtigsten Ziele der postoperativen Narbentherapie liegen unter der Oberfläche. Schmerzen, veränderte Sensibilität, Taubheit, elektrisierende Missempfindungen oder ein anhaltendes Fremdkörpergefühl können noch lange bestehen, nachdem die Heilung äußerlich abgeschlossen scheint.

Für viele Patient:innen sind diese Symptome nicht nur unangenehm — sie können zutiefst belastend oder sogar traumatisierend sein. Wenn Berührung sich unsicher oder unvorhersehbar anfühlt, vermeiden Betroffene häufig jede Form der Selbstbehandlung. Diese fehlende Compliance kann die Genesung ungewollt verlangsamen und die Rehabilitation verlängern.

Bei Recovery Space verfolgen wir ein integratives Rehabilitationskonzept, das über kosmetische Aspekte hinausgeht. Wir berücksichtigen, wie Narbengewebe mit Nerven, Faszien, Bewegung und dem Nervensystem als Ganzem zusammenwirkt — und helfen Patient:innen, Sicherheit, Selbstvertrauen und Vertrauen in den eigenen Körper zurückzugewinnen.

Scar progress update

These photos show the healing journey of a skin graft donor site. The first image was taken at the beginning of November, the second one in January.

With manual scar therapy and a customized home care plan we are already seeing meaningful improvements.

The scar has become noticeably flatter, itchiness has reduced, and the numbness of the area has diminished. Most importantly, the patient is feeling happier and more confident with the progress so far.

This case is still ongoing, but it’s a great example of the importance of a holistic approach within our post-surgical program, addressing both physical healing and patient comfort.

As a next step, we will motivate and guide the patient toward further optimizing scar visibility with the support of laser and injectable specialists as part of a comprehensive, long-term plan.

Scar Therapy should be a multidisciplinary matter for longterm successful rehabilitation of patients.

Day 1 of the SCARS Meeting was an inspiring and enriching experience.

We were proud to see our abstract, “Integrative Scar Rehabilitation: A Multidisciplinary Approach Addressing Pain, Sensory Disturbances, and Functional Limitations through an Integrative Care Model,” featured on the e-poster screens — a meaningful highlight of the day.

We are deeply grateful for the many wonderful encounters with experts from all around the world, whose knowledge, openness, and passion made the day truly special. The remarkable lectures and engaging discussions provided valuable new insights into the use of laser techniques to improve scar healing and appearance, further expanding our understanding of this evolving field.

A special thank you to Acclaro Medical for inviting us to their private evening event. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the UltraClear® Laser and to engage in thoughtful conversations about the application of laser technologies for burn survivors and oncology patients. The chance to ask in-depth questions and exchange ideas over dinner made the evening both educational and enjoyable.

We look forward to the days ahead and to continuing these important conversations!

One of our patient cases, reflecting the importancy of post surgical aftercare:

This patient underwent fibula free flap reconstruction after palatal cancer surgery and came to us with significant post-surgical challenges:
• complete numbness along the outer lower leg
• immobilized ankle, Fibrosis and edema
• stinging pain along the scar
• a skin graft that felt solid, almost leathery, with strong adhesions to the peroneal muscles

After 3 months in our post-surgical aftercare program at Recovery Space, the transformation is remarkable:
• scar is flat, with only small areas of residual redness
• sensory issues reduced by ~80%
• pain completely resolved
• full range of motion achieved
• edema reduced to minimum, only reappearing after intense training
• skin graft is now smooth, supple, with a balanced moisture barrier and only minor adhesions remaining

Recovery is not just about the visible scars — it’s about restoring function, comfort, and a positive body image.

Workshop „Der Körper erinnert sich“ 10.01.2026

In diesem Workshop widmen wir uns Spannungen und Schmerzen, die aus langjährig getragenen emotionalen Lasten entstanden sind. Durch eine intensive transpersonale Breathwork-Session öffnen wir einen Raum, in dem der Körper erinnern, loslassen und sich neu ausrichten darf.

Das Erlebte wird anschließend in einer Kunsttherapie-Session mit Yulia Hernadez integriert, sodass innere Prozesse kreativ Ausdruck finden können. Begleitet wird der gesamte Workshop von indogener Live-Musik und Gesang von Jhon Hernandez, die den Atemprozess vertiefen und eine sichere, tragende Atmosphäre schaffen.
