Stress at work is a challenge that many of us have to face. It's encouraging to see companies increasingly recognize the importance of giving their employees the tools to manage stress.

We are conducting right now an exciting stress and management seminar for a leading company in Zürich, Switzerland. At a time when hundreds of thousands of people in Switzerland are at risk of burnout, it is crucial to take preventative measures and develop the right skills to deal with the stresses of modern working life.

Our seminar is helping participants to identify stress factors, learn effective stress management strategies, and develop a healthy way of dealing with the demands of everyday working life. We firmly believe that this improves employee well-being and increases productivity and company success.

Today I had the chance to visit one of my favourite customers, a Swiss chocolate company, situated on the shore of the Zürich Lake. The beautiful office, the "flavoures" in the factory, together with the sun and the beautiful landscapes shaped the wonderful day. We provided corporate back checks for the employees, a great health promotion strategy, with big impact and profitable results. The health checks have the potential to benefit both employees and the companies they work for. The programs help identify health risks and improve employee well-being. Our checks focus on posture, mobility and stability of the back. The medical professionals (trained nurses or physiotherapists) perform a state-of-the-art check and analysis that provides valuable information and recommendations for therapy and exercise planning. Understandable graphics illustrate the current condition of the back. Based on the detailed results, employees can train their back muscles specifically in the future and prevent complaints. Our specialists have already carried out several thousand measurements over the last 10 years; the back checks are in great demand in companies and are very well received. We are so happy to see that more and more companies care about the health of the employees, which remains essential for the success of a company.

Did you know that sunshine, flowers and creative activities play a big role in our happiness levels? My new blog post explains how you can design and organise your home, work environment and leisure activities to feel better. Did you know that flowers and plants have very special effects on our mood and well-being? A study in the Journal of Experimental Psychology found that employees in offices with plants had higher levels of job satisfaction and concentration than those in offices without plants. 🔸️The consulting firm Virgin Pulse surveyed 1.5 million workers in 4,500 different companies worldwide. Around three quarters of those surveyed feel stressed at work, and over a third feel extremely stressed. Many employees showed the first signs of impending stress-related illnesses. In the worst cases, it can even lead to death - in the US there are around 120,000 cases a year.

Stress can be good and even a motivator! Good stress, also known as eustress, is "the positive stress response involving optimal levels of stimulation," according to the American Psychological Association (APA). In other words, it is stress that may arise from doing something demanding but enjoyable.

Burnout is not recognized in the international classification system for psychiatric diagnoses, YET. Many specialists still consider burnout to be a form of depression. But it is not. Depression is general, does not have work overload as the main trigger and extends over a long period of time. With burnout, the situation changes as soon as you move away from the strenuous activity itself.

Burnout is a serious phenomenon that affects many people. The consequences are not just about lack of productivity and motivation, but in some cases serious health consequences. To prevent this from happening, active preventive measures should be considered.

Last week, we facilitated a webinar about Stress and Burnout together with Aurelie Litynski, for Adobe Switzerland, in order to increase awareness about this serious syndrome, with several consequences to people's well-being and health.

When we set new , it is important to know the driving force behind the desire to achieve those particular goals. And only with motivation, we manage to achieve these goals. Motivation is the key to and .

This drive causes us to act, so we create movement, growth and change. Through this creation, we feel additionally involved, motivated and affirmed. And all of this gives our lives' satisfaction, meaning and happiness.

However, this drive is not natural and constant, often unfortunately lacking . The causes are often avoidance of discomfort, boredom, and frustration or even fear of challenges. When the challenge is too small, we quickly become bored and struggle to stay motivated.

Checking emails on the weekend, finishing a presentation, or moving up unfinished work, so you don't get overwhelmed on Monday morning? Unfortunately, this is increasingly the reality for many workers. The pandemic of forced home offices hasn't necessarily helped, as the lines between work and personal, or family, lives have increasingly blurred. The lack of a commute to work, arranged breaks with work colleagues, and a clear end to the workday with a walk home, has further contributed to the loss of clear boundaries between work and leisure. As a result, it is difficult for many people around the world to find a between and private , even though home office has been praised by many as a means of achieving a better -life balance.
