Zina Yudina, Project Developer and MAS "Translational Medicine and Biomedical Entrepreneurship" student recommends the program to anyone interested in making the transition from idea to product development and market access in med-tech industries:

“The MAS program has allowed me to move my own project forward much more efficiently. The tools provided by top specialists in all relevant areas are great. It's not only the seminars which guide us on how to establish and navigate a product or company in med-tech sectors, but much more – team work, pitch training, event updates in the national and international start-up ecosystem, etc.

This program has given me the chance to expand my network and to find matching specialists for different areas of my project, with whom I am now actively collaborating. Another great asset is the mentoring, which is kindly provided by several lecturers on a regular basis in areas of IP protection, regulation strategy and business model development. Additionally, I would like to emphasize the great efforts provided by Juergen Burger and Pascale Anderle to run this program smoothly, even during lockdown".

The Personalised Medicine Research Group at sitem Center had their registration paper published in an issue of the Orthopaedic Research Society journal.

Abstract:
CT-MR alignment for forearm procedures allows the combination of both soft and bony tissue information. We propose an automated registration pipeline, which allows manual steering of the registration algorithm to the desired image subregion.

"In today’s world, technology plays an important role in every industry, especially in . Medical technology is a field where innovation plays a crucial role in sustaining and improving health. However, technological advances are now accelerating faster than ever before, and it is difficult to drive innovation without considering many different aspects. Working on inventive and disrupting technologies at a company with smart people shaped my learning curve in a very positive way, but at the same time it made me realize the tremendous challenges that come when facing, for example, the regulatory environment or the clinical application of the invented device. This is exactly where the sitem Center for Translational Medicine and Biomedical Entrepreneurship came in, enabling me to directly apply it on practical case scenarios with continuous support from professionals from the industry. The program is very flexible and I find the the project-oriented concept extremely helpful in everyday life".

"This CAS will take any MD on an instructive and enlightening journey outside of their comfort zone. The features that I enjoy most is the high amount of flexibility and support from our teachers and course organizers. The online-based course platform offers great possibility for individual learning schedules. We are currently in module 6 "Legal and Ethical Challenges", where fundamental legal and ethical issues with the rapid emergence of AI in medicine are addressed and discussed in a comprehensible and well-versed way".
