From the wetlab to Berneck 🦅

After days filled with phaco, vitrectomy, and hands on wetlab sessions 👁️ at the Winter Academy by – the wetlab company, it was time for a different kind of exchange 🤝

For our Social Night, participants joined us in Berneck, took a closer look 👀 behind the scenes during the company tour, and ended the day over dinner. The discussions continued beyond the OR and wetlab, with shared experiences and new connections 😊

Sharing skills where they matter most 💡

In Guatemala, Susan Suh, Donny W. Suh, MD, the Suh Foundation, and our colleague Kylie Wack joined forces with Bethesda Hospital in Xela for a medical outreach programme 🤝

Across long days in theatre and close collaboration with local doctors and residents, the work centred on eye muscle surgeries, hands-on teaching 🎓, and paediatric eye screenings in the community. Working alongside an all-female group of physicians made that exchange even more powerful 💪

Beyond the clinical work, the real value lay in sharing expertise and helping strengthen local eye care for the long term.
