WHERE THE HELL IS BAD BONN? Français et English below Das Bad Bonn in Düdingen ist zwar kein Kurort mehr, aber ein Ausflug ins Konzertlokal am Schiffenensee hat schon vielen Freude bereitet. Am Ende der Bonnstrasse, am A***h der Welt sagen die urbanen Besucher, steht ein Haus. Hinter der bescheidenen, fast etwas biederen Fassade, wird ein unerwartet vielfältiges Konzertprogramm angeboten, dessen Affiche genauso in London, Berlin oder Paris zu lesen sein könnte. Ob Metal, Antifolk, Country, Electronica, Indie oder Hip Hop, alles hat Platz was in Nischen und Randzonen der Populärmusikwelt zu hören ist. Bestimmten Szenentrends zu folgen ist nebensächlich, vielmehr steht das Soziale und das Aufeinandertreffen von Gegensätzlichem im Vordergrund. Das Bad Bonn ist ein friedliches Rockloch, das Leuten aus allen Schichten offen ist, und wo man auch nur etwas trinken und plaudern kann. Seit 1991 standen ca. 1500 Bands auf der kleinen Bühne. Darunter auch grössere Namen wie The Prodigy, Queens Of The Stone Age, Ministry, Cat Power, The Young Gods und viele lokale Bands. Als Höhepunkt wird neben den Clubkonzerten jährlich das Bad Bonn Kilbi-Festival veranstaltet. Von bekannten Musik- und Kulturjournalisten mit ‘das beste Festival der Schweiz’ betitelt, hat der Anlass mittlerweile einen festen Platz in jeder Agenda. Dies nicht nur der eigenwilligen Programmation wegen, sondern auch die familiäre Atmosphäre und das eingspielte und äusserst freundliche Helferteam spielen eine wichtige Rolle. Ergänzt mit einem Spaziergang zum idyllischen Sandstrand wird ein Besuch zum einmaligen Erlebnis. Der Schiffenenstausee setzte anfangs der Sechzigerjahre das alte Kurbad Bonn mitsamt seiner Schönheit, der Kapelle, der Hängebrücke und ein paar Häusern unter Wasser. Die Schlösser auf den majestätischen Sandsteinfelsen trohnen wie Wächter über dem Röstigraben. Bonn appetit und herzlich willkommen! Derrière cette façade discrète, un peu démodée, est offert un programme de concerts dont l’affiche ne serait pas déplacée à Londres, Berlin ou Paris. Métal, antifolk, country, électronica, indé ou rap, on y trouve tout ce qui bouge en dehors de la musique populaire. Le but de la programmation n’est pourtant pas de suivre les dernières tendances à tout prix, ce sont surtout l’aspect social et la juxtaposition de facteurs qui comptent. Le Bad Bonn est un trou de rock paisible, ouvert à tout le monde ayant envie de boire un verre ou de bavarder un peu. Depuis 1991, la petite scène aura accuelli vers les 1’500 groupes parmi lesquels on trouve des grands noms comme The Prodigy, Queens Of The Stone Age, Ministry, Cat Power et The Young Gods mais aussi beaucoup de groupes locaux. Comme point fort à côté des concerts du club, le Bad Bonn organise chaque année la “Kilbi”, un festival de musique alternative en plein air. Cet évènement que certains journalistes de musique et de culture n’hésitént pas à nommer “le meilleur festival en Suisse” est devenu un rendez-vous incontournable - pour sa programmation éclectique, certes, mais l’atmosphère familiale et l’équipe soudée et amicale du club elles-aussi y sont pour beaucoup. Combiné avec une petite ballade vers la plage idyllique, la visite deviendra inoubliable. Il y a longtemps déjà, dans les années soixante, le barrage de Schiffenen inonda l’ancien Kurbad Bonn et emporta toute sa beauté, sa chapelle, son pont suspendu et quelques maisons. Témoins de ce déluge, les châteaux sur les falaises en molasse majestueux trônent comme des gardiens du “Röstigraben”. Soyez les bienvenus! At the end of Bonnstrasse-Road - in the arse end of nowhere - say urban visitors, there is a house. Behind the unpretentious, almost conservative façade, an unexpectedly varied concert programme is proposed, whose add could just as well hang in London, Berlin or Paris. Metal, antifolk, country, electronica, indie or hip hop; we have room for the whole range of niche and periphery products of the pop music world. Obeying fashions is trivial, what interests us more is the social side of events and the coming together of opposing trends. Bad Bonn is a peaceful rock hole, which is open to members of all levels of society, and it is a place where one can also simply have a drink and a chat. Since 1991 approx. 1,500 bands stood on the little scene. Some big names are among them: The Prodigy, Queens Of The Stone Age, Ministry, Cat Power, The Young Gods and many local bands. As an annual focal point Bad Bonn Kilbi-Festival complements the club concerts. Labelled “the best festival of Switzerland” by famous music and art journalists, the event has a proper place in every diary. This is not only due to the stubborn design of the programme, but the informal atmosphere and the experienced and most friendly staff play an important role as well. Complemented with a stroll to the idyllic sandy beach a visit becomes a unique experience. In the early Sixties the artificial Lake Schiffenen flooded the old Bonn spa with all its beauty, the chapel and the suspension bridge and some houses. The castles on the majestic sand stone rocks sit like watchmen on the language barrier. A hearty welcome!
