Our history and what we are doing
Schaerer Medical AG is a leading manufacturer of mobile operating tables, medical accessories and special products. In 1892, Maurice Schaerer laid the foundation stone for the Schaerer Medical AG of today by founding a factory for surgical instruments and hospital equipment. Our products are manufactured exclusively in Switzerland. Schaerer® products stand for highest precision, quality and long service life. Our commitment to quality is reflected in the worldwide increasing demand. As a medium-sized company, Schaerer Medical is in a position to react rapidly and flexibly to special customer requirements and provide individual and innovative solutions for every field of application.
The constant development of our products in close cooperation with leading surgeons and partners from medicine and medical technology has always been an integral part of our brand and business culture. For a log time Schaerer Medical worked together with Prof. Dr. Emil Theodor Kocher, who was the first surgeon granted with the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1909. Many innovative accessories and surgical instruments were developed during this time, earning us a world wide reputation. 1912 Schaerer set a further milestone with the introduction of the first mobile operating table. The model "X" was developed together with Prof. F. de Quervain, head of the surgical department of the University Clinic Berne. With over 100 years of experience in the development and production of mobile operating tables, Schaerer Medical is the trustworthy partner for surgeons and medical staff. As a partner for medicine, Schaerer Medical continuously invests in the development of new products.
Schaerer Medical has a sales and service organisation in Switzerland and in the USA. Further, a network of sales partners in 75 countries guarantees the worldwide distribution of our products. Sales and service partners are regularly trained by our staff, thus assuring a competent service on site.
