Where would you go if you knew you’d always have a friendly face waiting to greet you? Someone to look after you and show you around, take you to all the best places. The Middle East? One thing’s for sure – you’d probably be a whole lot more adventurous. Fortunately for you, we’re making your travel fantasies reality with our international network of City Heroes. They’re friendly, knowledgeable types who can’t wait to welcome you to their turf and take you wherever you fancy. That way, you’re always spending time with locals – not other tourists. Not that we’ve got anything against tourists. We’d just rather experience different cultures with the people who actually live in them, and we figured that plenty of people, including you, feel the same way. We like to think of it as a giant travel adventure. It’s all about connection. And world peace. Read on for world peace (seriously)
Everyone’s welcome in our Travel Hero family. You don’t need any special powers. You don’t even need a cape. All we ask is that you’re open-minded, willing to try new things and willing to meet new people. Obviously, we’ll take your interests into consideration. No-one’s going to force you up a mountain if that’s not your thing. Whatever you love to do, and whatever your needs, there are City Heroes on your wavelength. Your hero will snaffle out restaurants where you’ll feel as special as all the other diners. Want to eat it all? Trust us, there are plenty of heroes like you. So, what does it involve? Being shown around, basically. You sign up, filter your interests and browse the City Hero profiles. We believe transformative travel doesn’t have to involve meditation and yoga (though if you fancy practicing your asanas with the locals in India be our guest). It can be chatting over local beer, discovering a great traditional meal, or padding through a forest spotting wildlife native to that area. Tempted? It’s not just about fun travel, though, important as that is. Our aim is to make the world a kinder place, one new friendship at a time. World peace can seem a long way off, especially with everything that’s happening around the planet at the moment. But we truly believe it can be done. Friends make you feel safe. They make it easier to hop over to off-the-beaten-track places that can feel intimidating. After all, who can look after you better than a local who knows the area like the back of their hand? That makes us all heroes. Travel Heroes. Together, we can open minds and expand perspectives. Who knows what could happen if people from different cultures realise we’re all playing for the same human team? Perhaps the whole world would come together.
