Sound needed 😄

Or is it 😃 Here I am Baby food prepping with my daughter. I was recording some short videos relating to children and their relationship with food. My small foodie girl gives some input into her relationship with food so far 😅

When I first began to wear my baby whilst I food prepped I would prop a little mirror in front of us so that I could see her. I have previously worked with preparing food for and cooking with children and I loved it. Sharing these special times with my own baby has been fun and energizing. I noticed instantly that she was fixated on the foods and would watch my hands move around washing, chopped, whisking ect.

As I always say nutrition is non negotiable to functioning your best for your life. The car won’t run without fuel and neither can we. This is why our relationship with food is a crucial one. And like most fundamental habits in life...start them young 👶🏻

Do you have or know any little people in your life who struggle with eating their meals?? If so share below in the comments. A healthy community can support one another in our struggles.

Happy New Year!

Last night in our home we said goodbye to the previous year in our most favourite way....with good tasty food! A homemade mezze platter is by no means fast food but the variety of delicious flavors are worth every bit of preparation.

This previous year has been rather conflicting for us. Our world has suffered and struggled with the Covid-19 pandemic, changing the world as we know it. However amongst the difficulties 2020 brought us it has also been the best year of our life. In September we welcomed naturally and safely our first born daughter into our family. She is a happy and healthy baby enriching our lives and bring us endless amounts of joy.

The last few months of restrictions and lockdown have given us the quiet intimate time to get to know our little girl. To spent quality time nourishing and loving her. We have learned about about parenting, about ourselves and about the importance of sleep 😃 I have taken a break from my work here at LangLiving to indulge in motherhood and figure out how life looks with our new addition.

I am so very fortunate to be able to say my experience of having our first baby was a very healthy one. I am excited this year to share some of my experience here on LangLiving!

Look what the rain did to our little vegetable beet ☺️

Lately there have been alarming News Reports regarding the unhealthy practices certain countries have in the process of food from farm to shop shelf. I’m not alone in feeling disgusted and shocked by this. All the more reason why I am grateful to see the progress in our small summer project.

I have discovered growing your own food is really about trial and error. Every time we venture to try something new we learn along the way by what works and what doesn’t. For me this time was not to be so excited to plant as much in the one box 😄

Nevertheless I am amazed by how much we are able to profit from such a small space without having a garden. We have been regularly harvesting from this and it just keeping growing strong and nutritious 🥬

My healthy tip today would be to leave aside those doubts you have about growing your own food. You do not have to be fully educated in gardening to begin, have all the best equipment or even a garden for that matter. Some soil, sun and water will do nicely ☀️

I am really interested to know how you keep track of your well-being 😃

Tomorrow is June already 😲 Despite feeling like the lockdown was never going to end, 2020 is going surprisingly fast!!

This year has turned out to look different from what we all had planned for ourselves. With it has come feelings of disappointment and restriction. Even though life can be unsure and worrying right now....it goes on! The sun rises and sets, spring bloomed and we are alive!! This means we have the opportunity to take very good care of ourselves and thrive.

As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach my aim is to nourish my body on the plate (the FOOD I eat) and my life off the plate (the WORK I do, my RELATIONSHIPS, how PHYSICALLY ACTIVE I am & how I practice SPIRITUALITY) I have added a few additional topics of Self Care this month due to the circumstances at the moment. Nourishing our minds at this time of isolation is vital to remaining healthy and happy. Despite restrictions Goal Setting can be a vital task in allowing us to keep looking forward and to feel less trapped. Whether they are goal for right now or for when we have more social freedom.

The start of a new month can be a great time to check in with you!!

How are you?
How do you feel?
What will you leave behind in May?
What will you bring into June?
How can you feel Joy this month?
Could you practice more Self Care?

Goodbye May! Let’s have a healthy June 🌱☀️

When we buy our food we don’t always know what journey it has been on from seed to when we hold it in our hands. One sure way to know exactly where your food comes from is to grow it at home.

The ultimate personal nutrition dream for me is to grow as much of my food as I need. I believe I had to wait till I had a garden with lots of space. My impatience to wait has been a blessing in disguise 😊 Picture 1 is a photo of our Hochbeet that we set up this year. SWIPE LEFT to see it a few weeks ago. Then SWIPE LEFT again to see it at the very beginning.

In my last home I had a small balcony which I began to grown in pots. Herbs to begin with, then small tomatoes and eventually some lettuce.

My home now has a larger balcony and that has allowed me to take another step forward in learning how to grow food from scratch. So far I have Rainbow Chard, Beetroot, Lettuces, Onion, Tonatoes, Peppers and various Herbs without using much floor space at all.

Whether you have a window sill, a patch of ground outside to put some pots, a balcony or a garden, growing is possible.
Not only is growing food beneficial for our nutrition, it can be just as nourishing for our mind. I love to water my veggies with care and watch them as they thrive and grow. It can be fulfilling and leads to a deeper sense of gratitude whilst eating the fruits of your own labour.

Do you grow food at home? If so feel free to share your experience with the LangLiving Community. We can learn from each other and grow some delicious produce!

There are two things about me that have been some of the foundations for my LangLiving work today; my interest in Human Biology and my loving relationship with food. Growing a whole new person inside my own body and nourishing with good healthy food has my feet far off the ground. But lets be real for a minute... as wonderful as pregnancy is it is not always an easy journey. The 1st trimester worry! Constipation and bloating to name a few pregnancy joys. And the sickness and nausea!

My Healthy Pregnancy Post today will focus on the latter. From week 6 until week 14 I struggled with nausea more than any other symptom.I had my fair share of public displays of morning sickness, but for me nausea was worse. I didn't occur at any particular time of day. If I woke up nauseous then that was a “nausea” day. In other words a day in which I functioned minimally. However with some trial and error I found some remedies that worked for me and I want to share them with you. Whether you are pregnant or not, these are good to have in mind for any nausea you may be experiencing. 1.As a lover of tea I was upset that I had a strong aversion to tea. However one tea I didn't avoid was fresh peppermint as it soothed my sickness. Simply add a few fresh peppermint sprigs in a cup boiling water and sip slowly.
2.One drop of therapeutic grade Ginger essential oil in the palm of you hand, cup your hands over your nose & inhale deeply.
3.My absolute savior in getting me through those times out of the house were DoTerra ginger and lemons drops!. These natural lozenges supported me on public transport, in meetings and at classes.
4. I didn't want to drink ANYTHING when I felt nauseous. However for a healthy pregnancy staying hydrated is non negotiable. By squeezing the juice of one lemon into a litre of water I was able to keep myself more hydrated.

Tonight’s buffet style food in our home is a throw back to our healthy seasonal summer reset last year.

😋 chicken fajita
😋 coconut & lime rice
😋 guacamole
😋 Mexican style salad
😋 Romane lettuce
😋 Natural yoghurt

The flavours in all these dishes go very well together. You can make one, or two.... or all of them like me. I can‘t resist the fresh combination! Especially in the warmer months ☀️

All recipes can be found in our healthy seasonal reset group over on LangLiving‘s page.

Sharing some nutritional kindness today give to me by one of the most thoughtful women I know. My kind friend had some extra chard babies and kindly thought we would appreciate them and WE DO 🥰

They are still a little young to be braving the outside world full time. But come middle May they will be planted in a nice big bed outside. I can’t wait to nourish them and watch them grown! Then be used in delicious recipes to nourish us ☺️

How can you show someone that you are thinking of them today? Trust me it can make their whole day or even longer a happy one!

There are two things about me that have been some of the foundations for my LangLiving work today; my interest in Human Biology and my loving relationship with food. For as long as I can remember I have had a fascination with what a complex and intelligent system the human body is. Pair that with the fact that I am a Foodie who is passionate about nourishing the body with real natural delicious food, it is no wonder that being pregnant is one of the most exciting experiences in my life so far. Growing a whole new person inside my own body and nourishing with good healthy food has my feet far off the ground.
