👉️Here you see the referred pain⚡️ pattern of the rhomboideus muscle.

Trigger points in this muscle can provide pain in the interscapular region and along of the medial border of the scapula - like a «Superficial Backache»😣

So beside other muscles in this area, check🔎 the rhomboideus muscle for your patients with interscapular pain👍️

A bit of Anatomy💪🤔

The rhomboideus muscle has its origin📍 at the spinous processes from C7 to T5, and inserts📍 at medial border of the scapula.

👉️ It is therefore one of the "interscapular" muscles and has multiple functions in this region, such as:

🔹adduction and elevation of the scapula,
🔹downward rotation of the scapula, means that the glenoid fossa goes downward,
🔹stabilization of the scapula in retraction,
🔹prevention of winging of the scapula,
🔹rotation of the spine to the opposite side,
🔸and as bilateral action: extension of the spine.

🤫👉️Here you see how we treat rhomboideus muscle in side lying position on the ipsilateral side.

⚠️It is important, that in this position, the scapula is winged enought❗️

Like that and with the correct✔️ needle direction away from the thorax, the lung, as the main precaution, is safe🦺👍️

Dry Needling Anatomy💪

Can you identify these nerves⚡️ in the upper arm?
3-dimensional anatomy🧭 is essential for dry needling, and therefore to know, where the nerves are running ⤵️in the body.

And cross section pictures are a great help to improve your knowledge🤓

Another muscle, that is on our 🔝-list of the most commonly treated muscles, is the upper part of the trapezius muscle.
In our practice, we treat this muscle a lot of times every day🤲.

⚡️The upper part of the trapezius muscle can be responsible for a lot of neck pain and headache🤯, as well as pain in the area of the deltoid muscle and the jaw😬. The upper trapezius muscle is a large and strong 💪muscle and can cause many symptoms.

🤫 But don't forget to check also other neck and head muscles for trigger points✔️ as they could be "hidden🫣" by the symptoms of the upper trapezius muscle.

he coracobrchialis muscle - this small muscle is often overlooked👀

The musculocutaneous nerve crosses❌️ the coracobrachialis muscle in the part, where it is covered by the pectoralis major muscle.

Trigger points in the coracobrachialis muscle can also provoke an entrapment of the musculocutaneous nerve😫⚡️.

This in turn can result in weakness of the elbow flexors🪫 and paraesthesia of the radial forearm🪶❔️, as you have seen it in the last post where we showed you the nerve projection area of the musculocutaneous nerve⬅️

The musculocutaneous nerve is a mixed nerve, with both, motor💪 and sensory🪶⚡️ innervation.

The sensory branch of the musculocutaneous nerve is called the "lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve".
➡️It provides sensation to the skin on the lateral or radial side of the forearm, from the elbow to the wrist - as you see it in the picture.

🤫💡Do you remember, which muscle can cause an entrapment of the musculocutaneous nerve❓️❔️❓️

Do you know that Problem?
You are concentrated and your neck is in a real uncomfortable position for a long time!😩
And what is the result? ⚡️Neck pain⚡️and sometimes stiffness in the neck.

So if that happens, one muscle to check🔎 for trigger points is the upper part of the trapezius muscle.
And if you find triggerpints there, treat them with dry needling - you will have excellent results😊💪

☝️And of course, remember to adapt your posture, you sitting position👩‍💻and if necessary, use a helping gadget🎧️😄
