Predators in the spellwork industry do not target the sceptical. They target the believers.

The curse removal upsell works because it is engineered for a specific kind of person: someone who already takes the unseen seriously, who is open to the reality of energetic interference, and who has already demonstrated that willingness by paying for a working in the first place. Your openness is not a weakness. But it is what they weaponise.

Understanding why this practice is so effective is the first layer of protection against it. The upsell never happens before payment. It always happens after, when you are already emotionally invested and when walking away feels like abandoning yourself mid-process. The practitioner is introducing something timed to land when your resistance is lowest and your fear is highest.

There is also a subtler mechanism at work. Most people who have been through this do not report it or speak about it publicly because it comes with a layer of shame. The internal story becomes: I should have known better. But knowing better requires information that most people are never given, because the industry has no shared standards, no regulatory body, and no obligation to educate the people it serves.

This is why I talk about it plainly. All clients deserve to walk into this space with their eyes open.

The most spiritually advanced thing you can do is stop pretending you know what you are doing.

There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes before a real turning point. Not burnout exactly. More like your soul has quietly stopped cooperating with the version of your life you have been maintaining through sheer willpower and all the facades you’ve been maintaining. You keep showing up. You keep doing the things. And underneath all of it is a question you have been too busy or too scared to ask out loud.

This is initiation into your new life.

Every tradition that works with the dark goddess understands that the moment of genuine not-knowing is not the crisis we’re lead to believe, it is actually a gateway.

Ereshkigal rules the place you arrive when all your certainty has been stripped away. Hekate stands at the crossroads precisely because the crossroads is where you have no idea which way to go. The dark divine feminine meets you when you need her most, in the mess, in the feral 2am question that will not leave you alone.

Your guides are not judging you in your confusion. They have been waiting for you to pause, even in chaos, long enough to actually listen.

Some people who commission spellwork are not ready for it. Here is how to know if you are.

There are two very different energetic states you can be in when you decide to commission a working.

The first is genuine desire. You know what you want, you can feel it as a real possibility, and you are choosing to work with magic to create the conditions that make it more likely.

The second is avoidance. The situation is unbearable, you want the feeling to stop, and the working feels like the fastest route to relief. Both states can lead someone to an intake form. Only one of them creates the best internal conditions the spell needs to land well.

The signal I look for is not certainty and it is not emotional stability in the sense of having processed everything. It is the capacity to hold uncertainty without collapsing into it.

The ability to say “I want this, I am choosing this, I understand it may not arrive exactly as I imagine it, and I am doing it anyway.“ That orientation toward the outcome rather than away from the pain is the energetic difference that matters.

Here is how to assess it for yourself before you book anything. Sit with the question of what you are moving toward rather than what you are moving away from. If you can describe the outcome in positive terms, what the relationship feels like, what your life looks like when this has landed, without that description immediately dissolving into fear of it not happening, you are ready.

If every attempt to imagine the outcome collapses back into the anxiety of the absence, that is information worth sitting with first.

This does not mean you wait until you are perfectly regulated. You do not. The internal work and the external magic run alongside each other.

Your spell is not failing. But your grief might be standing in the way.

This is the thing I see most often in love spellwork and almost nobody says it plainly because it requires naming something uncomfortable about why we commission in the first place.

When we are in the aftermath of a loss or a separation, the pain is unbearable and the desire to make it stop is completely human. The problem is that sometimes we commission a spell because we want the grief and discomfort to end. The spell becomes a shortcut around the feeling rather than a genuine call toward the outcome.

And here is why that matters energetically. Spellwork requires you to hold the frequency of what you are calling in. That means desire, openness, genuine wanting. Not just relief from pain. When your entire energetic relationship to the situation is rooted in fear of loss and avoidance of grief, the spell is trying to build in conditions that are working against it.

This does not mean you need to be healed or whole or over it before you commission. You absolutely do not.

But it does mean that meeting yourself honestly about what is actually driving the decision is part of the work. That honesty is not a barrier to the magic. It is part of what makes the magic land.

The integration period after a casting exists precisely for this reason. The external conditions shift when the spell is cast. The internal conditions are yours to tend.

They are not going to let you stay stuck forever. That is not how this works.

There is a particular quality to the dark goddess that the wellness industry will never sell you because it does not necessarily feel good in the way we have been conditioned to expect spiritual support to feel good.

She is not here to validate the story you have been telling yourself about why now is not the right time. She is not interested in your reasons. She has seen your reasons. She watched you construct them. She was there when you chose familiar suffering over unfamiliar freedom for the sixth consecutive time and she is running out of patience.

This is the medicine. This is exactly why this path works when nothing else has.

Sekhmet does not sit across from you and nod. Ereshkigal strips what is already dead whether you are ready to release it or not. The Morrigan removes what is keeping you from your own power with finality that is breathtaking and occasionally terrifying. These goddesses are not punishing you. They are not cruel.

They are simply operating from a frequency where your self-sabotage is not a mystery to be endlessly explored in therapy it is a pattern to be BROKEN.

When you enter genuine relationship with them through spellwork and invocation, through a practice that has real roots and real fangs… things start moving.

Sometimes gently. Sometimes with the kind of force that makes you look back six months later and realise you could not have stayed even if you had tried.

That is literally the medicine. And I, for one, am grateful for it.

There are a lot of exceptional spellcasters out there, but there are also a lot of shady ones. We’re talking about how to tell the difference.

Magic works with probability: it shifts the energetic conditions around a situation, removes obstacles, amplifies what is already present, and creates the conditions in which the movement you are calling for becomes more likely. The operative word is more likely. Not certain. And definitely not guaranteed.

A love spell does not override another person’s free will. It creates an environment in which their movement toward you becomes easier. A separation working does not guarantee a relationship ends by a specific date. It creates friction, disconnection, energetic erosion over time. The spell is a living thing. It moves according to the actual energetic landscape of your situation, not the deadline you have built in your head.

So when a practitioner tells you your ex will return within thirty days or your money back, one of two things is true. Either they genuinely do not understand this, which means they are not a serious practitioner. Or they understand it perfectly and they are counting on the fact that you are in enough pain to hear the word „guaranteed“ and stop asking questions.

The practitioners worth trusting are the ones who tell you the uncomfortable version. Who explain what they can and cannot promise. Who hold the standard of their process rather than the outcome of the universe.

That conversation is harder to have. It is also the only honest one.

There is a very specific social experience that comes with being a professional witch and I do not think we talk about it enough.

Someone asks what you do. You take a small breath. You make a split-second calculation about how honest to be based on their face, the venue, and how much wine everyone has had.

And then you either watch their eyes go completely blank or you watch them become immediately, uncomfortably fascinated.

There is no in between. There is no „oh that’s nice.“ It is either polite confusion or thirty-seven questions, none of which are the right questions.

My personal favourite is when they ask if it actually works. And you’re sitting there having just finished a Tapestry commission for a client whose situation shifted so dramatically she cried on our closing call.

Having just cast a working that took four hours, three goddess invocations, more botanical knowledge than most people apply to anything in their lives, and a level of energetic precision that would make your average scientist grudgingly respectful. Does it work. Does it work!

Or the classics: „so like… Harry Potter?“ No. „Do you worship the devil?“ Also no but the goddesses I work with would find that hilarious. „Can you curse my ex?“ Now we’re getting somewhere, yes, sit down, let me tell you about the Vindicta Collection.

The truth is most people cannot hold what this practice actually is. It is too old, too serious, too effective, and too far outside the reality tunnel they have been living in. And that is fine. Not everyone is meant to understand it.

The fine print is where practitioners show you exactly who they are. Don’t skip it.

Most clients never think to ask whether a practitioner has formal terms and conditions before they book. And most practitioners are banking on that.

Here’s what a serious standalone spellwork T&Cs document actually covers, and why each section matters:

What triggers the start of the working. Not payment. Spiritual authorisation. This distinction matters enormously, because it means the practitioner has assessed the commission before it becomes irreversible. If they decline at that stage, you receive a full refund. If they don’t have this mechanism, there is no point at which they are formally accountable for what they take on.

The communication protocol. What channel. What response time. Whether progress updates exist and what form they take. Without this in writing, you have no recourse when a practitioner disappears on you.

What you agree to during the casting window. The working window conduct clause protects the integrity of the spell itself. A practitioner who doesn’t formalise this doesn’t understand why it matters, or doesn’t want the accountability of having told you.

The refund policy with actual logic behind it. Not just „all sales final.“ A real explanation of what is and isn’t refundable and why, because a working that has been cast cannot be uncast and you should understand that before you pay, not after.

Limitation of liability. This protects you too, not just the practitioner. It tells you what recourse looks like if something goes wrong.

If those things aren’t in a document you can read before you book, that practitioner has never had to think seriously about their responsibility to you. And that tells you everything.
