Torn between two worlds

Torn between two worlds Shawn is a lifelong learner sharing his education and life experiences as a spiritual consultant. While pursuing an engineering career, Mr.

Shawn Murphy worked his way through high school and college first as a body shop mechanic and then as a machinist. Working as an aerospace engineer for General Dynamics, he started by engineering solutions for production errors on the F-16. And then helped retrofit the F16 with stealth improvements on the existing aircraft. He advanced to become a lead engineer on the Navy’s stealth A-12 program, responsible for all the perimeter structure and its stealth characteristics. Murphy received a master in engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and an MBA from Texas Christian University, where he became the portfolio manager of the William C Conner foundation. With his experience as an engineer and education in finance, Shawn helped start an institutional asset management company in Lichtenstein, where he became the chief investment officer and equity partner. He continued his work study regime, received the first CFA in Lichtenstein, and then learned how to speak German through the study of philosophy and history in the same language. After the sale of the Lichtenstein company, Shawn partnered with his client in Bermuda and set up an asset management company in Bermuda to focus on the captive insurance industry. While in Bermuda, Shawn started helping entrepreneurs realize their potential and vision first by helping set up a DMTV in partnership with the Bermuda Broadcasting Corporation, and then later setting up MediaMine in California in partnership with a Warner Brothers executive. After moving to Switzerland in 2020, he created Shawn T Murphy Advisory, providing advisory services to entrepreneurs, clairvoyants and those suffering spiritual illnesses. As a member of the Young President’s Organization, Mr. Murphy has chaired a number of global networks in the area of social enterprise, focusing on disadvantaged children and education. Lifelong learning has been a major theme in his life, and he's taken it one step further to be a mentor for others in all walks of life, through his books, papers and blogs.

The Lost Sheep is a promise, not a threat
The Lost Sheep isn’t about guilt.
It’s about love that pursues.
🧔‍♂️ The shepherd doesn’t forget the one
🫶 The lost still matters
🕊️ Restoration is the point
If you’ve ever felt “too far gone”… this parable says otherwise.

Who edited the Bible? (Hint: not God.)
The Bible was copied, translated, and edited by people—not “dropped from heaven.”
Politics + influence shaped the early church, and it’s why scripture can be so easily taken out of context (and why there are so many denominations built on one book).
Jesus’ advice: seek the truth—because you won’t find it unless you look for it.
Truth is rare. It’s not on billboards or TV.

If Jesus is required… what about everyone who never heard of him?

I’ve been in a debate with a born-again Christian about reincarnation—
and the part that won’t leave me alone is this:

If knowing Jesus is required for eternal life…
what about the millions who died without ever hearing his name?

This is one reason reincarnation has always felt like a serious framework for spiritual growth and fairness—and why it may have mattered more in early Christianity than people think.

Why Are We Here?
What if the purpose of life isn’t “one and done”… but becoming truly virtuous over time?
In this Reel I share a lesser-known early Christian idea linked to Origen of Alexandria—sometimes called the “restoration of all things”—and why it changes how we read “be perfect” and “love your enemies.”
If you’ve ever felt religion didn’t fully explain the point of life, this is a perspective worth exploring.

Why Are We Here? A Forgotten Early Christian Perspective
Most churches never clearly answer the question: why are billions of people here? In this talk, I share an early Christian interpretation associated with Origen of Alexandria—often called the “restoration of all things”—and why it frames life as a long journey of becoming virtuous.
I also explore a symbolic comparison between Genesis and Revelation, and why “love your enemies” only makes full sense if humanity is ultimately connected. If you’re curious about spirituality beyond surface-level answers, this is for you.

Science Explains “How”… But Not “Why.”
Brian Cox breaks down what physics knows about the universe—how it began, how it works, how it evolved.
But the biggest questions aren’t “how” questions… they’re why questions:
• Why are we here?
• Why is the universe the way it is?
• Why does consciousness exist?
• And if there is God… why so much suffering?
I think consciousness is the missing link—and it’s why I’m drawn to research into near-death experiences and reincarnation case studies (including work associated with UVA’s Perceptual Studies Division).
If you’ve ever felt that science alone doesn’t satisfy the “why”… you’re not alone.

Brian Cox lays out what modern physics can tell us about the universe—its origins, its laws, and how it evolves. But even at its best, science mostly answers how things happen… not why we’re here, why the universe is “fine-tuned” for life, or what consciousness really is.

In this video, I share why I think consciousness is the missing piece—and why research into near-death experiences (NDEs) and reincarnation case studies (including work associated with the University of Virginia’s Perceptual Studies Division) is worth looking at with an open, critical mind.
We also touch the hardest question of all: if there is God, why is there so much suffering?

If we understand consciousness more deeply, we may get closer to the “why.”
