Constant consumption of sugar causes many health problems. And addiction makes it impossible to adequately assess the amount of sweets eaten. As a result, the constant sugar load on the body causes changes in the body and brain activity. That is, an elevated blood glucose level can be determined by some external signs. What kind of signs?

Dr. Vicki Petersen says that sugar is more addictive than drugs. And this has been proven in animal experiments: sugar addiction is not a myth, it is a real problem. The body reacts to sweets by releasing the hormone dopamine, eventually stops producing it without sugar stimulation and constantly demands sweets. As a result, when you haven't had a sugar boost, you feel anxious, out of sorts, there is a kind of "withdrawal" and you irresistibly want cakes/chocolate/buns.

Observe yourself, and if you find two or more of the following signs, consult a nutritionist and endocrinologist, and be sure to take a blood glucose test. Its increase leads to endocrine system malfunctions, hormonal imbalance, insulin resistance (when insulin-dependent cells stop responding to insulin, which disturbs the metabolism of glucose and its flow into the cells) and diabetes. Unfortunately, the effects of sugar for a long time is imperceptible, not accompanied by pronounced momentary symptoms. However, this does not mean that there are none at all.

We've known since childhood that a common plantain leaf should be applied to wounds and scratches. But actually, this common w**d is often used as a food - and it's worth it. A real superfood!

The same plantain (which, according to its name, grows along any roads in forests and parks) can be absolutely indispensable in a situation when there is no fresh greens, and the vegetable garden on your windowsill for some reason yet does not please the harvest. Plantain differs from its green counterparts, which grow everywhere and can be obtained for free - nettles or dandelions - also by the fact that it is available before the first frosts from early spring. And it doesn't need to be prepared in any way, just rinse the leaves under running water.

Plantain leaves are unique in their chemical composition: they are rich in phytoncides, potassium, enzymes, organic acids, flavonoids, polysaccharides, glucose and fructose, carbohydrates and proteins, chlorophyll, carotene, vitamin C and K.

Plantain is used to make soups, both meat and vegan. You can make a variant of pesto. In salads they go well with eggs, cheese, meat, any other greens and nuts. Of dressings - with vegetable oil, yogurt, sour cream and homemade mayonnaise. And chopped plantain leaves will turn your morning cottage cheese or yogurt into an original and very healthy dish.

Great sound these humble and unpretentious leaves and in smoothies - just send them to the blender along with parsley, spinach and any berries or fruits - and you get a real vitamin treasure. By the way, did you know that the very trendy (and expensive!) superfood psyllium is nothing but the same plantain. Dried and crushed. Okay, not exactly the same, but native (allegedly) to India, but it's virtually no different in composition.

We all get tired after a hard day's work. Fatigue can be caused by a lot of stress or disturbed sleep. And if reducing stress and changing your lifestyle doesn't help get rid of chronic fatigue, it's likely that the cause is a hidden disease.

Anna Andreasson, a member of the Institute for Stress Research, Faculty of Psychology at Stockholm University and the Faculty of Medicine at Karolinska Institute in Sulne suggests that the causes of abnormal fatigue can also be physical health problems.

Sleep apnea.
This is a disease in which a person can sleep and 10 hours a day, but do not feel relaxed, not filled with energy. A sign of sleep apnea is snoring, that is, short stops of breathing during sleep.

The disease is common in people who are overweight and can lead to stroke, so it is extremely important to see a doctor in time.

Postictal syndrome.
This diagnosis cannot yet be made officially, as the disease is not fully understood. However, people who have had the disease often complain of increased fatigue.

Doctors advise taking more frequent walks in the fresh air, practicing yoga, meditation and more time to devote to mental health, so you will help the body to cope with the symptoms of chronic fatigue.

Thyroid problems
In addition to chronic fatigue, there's also the constant feeling that you're cold. It's all about the thyroid hormone hypothyroidism. With its deficiency, the body uses less energy, a person feels tired, depressed and not in the mood, does not want anything, nothing to do.

"We are talking about long-term deep fatigue - overfatigue, that is the kind of fatigue that does not go away after rest. If you have given yourself some time to recover, but the fatigue has not gone away, it's time to see a doctor," says the expert.
