Have you ever seen a nalca leaf this large? The nalca is a plant that is native to southern Chile. The stalk can be peeled and eaten raw (usually with some lemon and salt) and tastes like a cross between rhubarb and celery. The leaves aren’t edible, but they’re often used as a wrapper for food cooked in outdoor fire pits.
During our adventure we have the privilege of visiting , a special area that has been privately conserved to study, protect, and learn from an incredible area at the base of (a local volcano that erupted six years ago). We’re accompanied by knowledgeable local guides like , who share their knowledge of the flora and fauna with us.
