Cervical Cancer Awareness Month
Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women in our communities. Many cases are diagnosed late, not because women do not care, but because awareness and early detection are still limited.
The main cause of cervical cancer is persistent infection with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a very common sexually transmitted infection. While most HPV infections clear on their own, those that persist over time can lead to cervical cancer. Adolescents and young people are especially vulnerable due to early exposure, misinformation, and limited access to accurate health education.
The good news is this, cervical cancer is preventable. Early awareness saves lives.
Let us start prevention early:
✔ Encourage HPV vaccination
✔ Share accurate, age-appropriate information
✔ Promote healthy choices and future screening
✔ Involve both girls and boys in prevention conversations
Prevention begins with awareness.
Awareness begins now.
