During the just ended hospital management committee session, Dr. Nsame Denis, Director of the hospital, while presenting the report of the last quarters, mentioned a rise in some health activities like new consultations, admissions, deliveries, endoscopic surgeries, major/minor surgeries and blood transfusion.
Other indicators he mentioned road traffic accidents, dog bite, snake bites.
The top diseases in the hospital were malaria, Gastritis/PUD, Road traffic accidents, lumbosciatia, urinary tract infection, fractures, Tonsillitis, Osteoarthritis, Pneumonia Congestive heart failure, Lumbago, sepsis, Pharyngitis while the top 15 causes of death remain Sepsis, stroke, Cancer, Congestive Heart Failure, Chronic Kidney disease/Acute Kidney injury, Pneumonia, Encephalopathy, Liver Cirrhosis, Acute Respiratory Failure and Traumatic Brain injury.
He furthered that the the universal Health Coverage is fully operational with the following figures for September-December 2024 and 1st - 3rd Quarter 2025;
- Cesarean section 193
- Ultrasounds 118
- Complications in Pregnancy 172
- Complications for New born baby 110
- Dialysis sessions 12,894
- HIV 21,318
- Tuberculosis 103
Some achievements of these first quarters in the domain of equipment and infrastructure include
- Inauguration of New Private Ward Renovated

In the domain of donations, the Hospital received: Numerous assistance from associations, individuals etc
In the domain of Capacity Building:
- Regular Scientific Meetings held every 2 weeks
- Commemoration of International Health Days - HIV, Hepatitis day, World Clubfood
For major challenges, Director Nsame listed shortage of staff in quantity and quality (ENT, GP, Radiology technician s, Midwives, Nurses specialized in intensive care etc). Destruction of equipment like the CT Scan, US, Operating lights due to frequent voltage fluctuations. ENEO evaluated the replacement of transpire at 61 million which is currently giving the hospital administration sleepless nights.
The 250KVA and 200KVA standby generators demand huge amounts of fuel (gasoil). Hence, any assistance in fuel shall be welcomed.
PBF unpaid subsidies: 82 millions Also, there are so many unpaid bills:
• 31 million in 2020 (with 1192 poor and vulnerable patients received)
• 38 million in 2021 (with 1091 poor and vulnerable patients received)
• 58 million in 2022(with 1256 poor and vulnerable patients received)
• 46 milliom in 2023 (With 1008 poor and vulnerable patients received)
• 46.8 million in 2024 ( with 1101 poor and vulnerable patient received)
• 34.2 millions at the end of September 2025 (with 980 poor and Vulnerable patients received)
As for the plans of the 2nd quarter, Director Nsame highlighted the continuation in executing RSA projects;
