The World Hepatitis Day is observed annually on July 28th to raise awareness about viral hepatitis. This year the celebration comes up on Sunday the 28th of July, on the theme "Hepatitis-free future".
Viral hepatitis refers to several types of liver inflammation caused by different hepatitis viruses, primarily hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E.
These viruses can cause acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term) liver disease, leading to cirrhosis, liver cancer, and even death if left untreated.
