An Africa-based group doing research, teaching and outreach on the epigenetic mechanisms driving the onset and host immune response against the aetiological agents of tropical diseases, as well as their contribution to natural substances' activities The Epigenetics and Diseases research group was created in 2019 by Dr Ousman Tamgue when he took a tenure position at the Department of Biochemistr
y, Faculty of Science, University of Douala, Cameroon. The group currently focuses on investigating non-coding RNAs (host’s microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs and bacterial sRNAs) as mediators of natural products ‘activities and as potential biomarkers for the diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and antibiotics resistance in major and neglected tropical diseases (Tuberculosis, Malaria). Our mission :
To produce, populate and translate knowledge on the host-pathogen epigenetics interactions that contribute to the onset , development, and drug resistance of tropical diseases. Our vision:
To become the leading Africa-based research group to provide equitable access to research , learning and transformative intervention at the interface between epigenetics, Molecular Immunology and control of tropical diseases.
