EVERY STORY MATTERS: STANDING TOGETHER THIS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH🎗🎀

Another means another year to raise awareness on !🎀

Every year, posters are made teaching us how to detect breast cancer early🧏🏾. We are taught during self examination not to think too little of the unevenness of your breasts, or that small lump that is starting to build🔍... and sometimes that makes us forget to stand by the millions of people already suffering from breast cancer🎈.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer globally🚨, yet with early detection and timely treatment, outcomes can significantly improve👌🏾

This month, let’s say yes to :
🎗Regular and self-exams👩🏾
🎗Sharing information
🎗Standing in with survivors, patients, and their loved ones👩🏽‍🤝‍👩🏿👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏾 because we have the chance to give them encouragement, a bit of , and a pat on the back this month☀️🎈

💜 Let's connect the dots: is an issue. 🧠💜

Breastfeeding provides nutrition, a baby's immune system, and against infections. For mothers, it supports postpartum recovery and builds a powerful bond. A healthy start for baby, a nurturing journey for mom.

However, to truly support women and families, we must recognize its profound intersectionality with sexual and reproductive health and rights ( ):

❣️ It is about and the right to choose how to feed one's child.
❣️ It is connected to family planning, as lactation can be used as a natural form of . (Lactational Amenorhea Method)
❣️ It is a matter of , as without paid leave and workplace support, the choice is limited.
❣️ It is also about , with the oxytocin hormone fueling bonding, birth, and breastfeeding.

empowerment means the whole journey—from reproductive choices to postpartum care and beyond.

Are we doing enough to break down these silos in health policy?

🔅Let’s talk about : 🔅
a.k.a « Morning Wood »

Waking up with an er****on is completely and — in fact, it’s a strong sign that your body and reproductive system are functioning well.

🌅 is it?
Morning er****on, or Nocturnal Pe**le Tumescence (NPT), is when the p***s becomes erect during sleep or upon waking — often during REM (dream) sleep.

🔍 does it happen?
1. Hormonal spike – Testosterone is highest in the morning.
2. Relaxed brain – During REM sleep, your brain reduces the inhibition of er****ons.
3. Healthy blood flow – Erections help keep pe**le tissues oxygenated and functioning.

💡 It’s NOT just about arousal. You don’t have to be dreaming about anything sexual — it’s a natural, biological process.

✅ Morning er****ons can be a sign of:
• Good heart and nerve health
• Proper hormone levels
• No underlying erectile dysfunction

🚨 to see a doctor?
If you stop having morning er****ons regularly — especially under age 40 — it could indicate:
• Stress or anxiety
• Hormonal imbalance
• Circulation problems
• Side effects of medication

🌟The Monthly Topic : 🌟

Today we shall be Puberty ! Below are some Myths around puberty and the reality from a health perspective.

📌 Myth 1: Everyone develops at the same pace.
: Developmental timelines vary significantly among individuals. Some may experience growth spurts earlier or later than their peers, and that's completely normal. ⏳🌱

📌 Myth 2: Acne is a sign of poor hygiene.
: Acne is a common skin issue during puberty due to hormonal changes. Keeping your skin clean can help manage acne, but it's not the root cause. ‼️

📌 Myth 3: Talking about puberty is embarrassing.
: Open conversations about puberty can foster trust and understanding. It's okay to ask questions and seek guidance from trusted adults or healthcare professionals. 💬

📌Myth 4: Puberty is just about physical changes.
: Puberty also involves emotional and social changes. It's a time of exploration, self-discovery, and learning to navigate relationships. 🤝❤️

If we understand the realities of puberty, we can better support young people as they navigate this significant phase of life. Let's promote awareness, empathy, and open conversations! 💜
