From 8 to 10 April 2026 in Yaoundé, government institutions, civil society organizations, technical partners and community actors participated in a national training organized by OIM Cameroun, in collaboration with the National Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration Committee NCDDR, and with the support of EU International Partnerships.

The training aims to strengthen protection‑sensitive reintegration approaches for people on the move, including migrants, internally displaced persons and formerly associated persons, through harmonized national frameworks and improved coordination.

Discussions focus on aligning national practices, strengthening data systems and indicators, and operationalizing digital tools to improve follow‑up, planning and evidence‑based decision‑making.
This initiative contributes to government leadership in advancing a coherent, nationally owned and sustainable reintegration system, supporting broader efforts in peacebuilding, social cohesion and long‑term development.

As we celebrate 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫, we are reminded of the power of renewal and the promise of brighter days.

May this hope accompany all people on the move as they strive for safety, stability, and opportunity.

Media professionals from Cameroon’s Far North Region participated in a 4‑day training organized by National Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration Committee and OIM Cameroun , with support from the Canada’s Foreign Policy—Global Affairs Canada , to enhance ethical and conflict‑sensitive reporting on disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR).

Throughout the sessions, journalists explored essential themes such as the national legal framework governing information management, professional ethics and deontology, data protection and security, and responsible handling of sensitive material, from consent and anonymization to verification of DDR‑related information. The workshop also strengthened participants’ capacity in peace journalism, focusing on accurate storytelling, careful narrative framing, and the prevention of hate speech.

The initiative aims to improve public understanding of reintegration processes and promote social cohesion in communities affected by conflict and displacement.

A proud moment as OIM Cameroun , Feicom and CVUC - Communes et Villes Unies du Cameroun came together to seal strong partnerships, reaffirming a shared commitment to empower territories, strengthen migration governance and expand access to essential services across Cameroon.

The occasion indeed celebrated the launch of the WASH Fund, an initiative designed to support municipalities to deliver sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene services to all.

By working hand in hand with local authorities and community leaders, this initiative will bring real change on the ground, improving access to safe water for people on the move and host communities, protecting health and dignity, and building safer, more resilient communities.

OIM Cameroun and MINREX, Ministère des Relations Extérieures du Cameroun, with the support of the Union européenne au Cameroun , brought together academic institutions, media actors, as well as technical and financial partners to gather their contributions to the development of the National Migration Policy and the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.

This provided an opportunity to examine current migration dynamics, identify key challenges and opportunities, and strengthen inclusive, participatory and evidence‑based migration governance, in support of Cameroon’s sustainable development objectives.
