Up and down energy used to feel normal.

Waking up tired.
Reaching for coffee mid-afternoon.
Wanting something sweet just to get through the day.
Flat on the couch after dinner.

I thought that was just part of getting older.

It’s not.

What I’ve learned is this:

Energy isn’t something you chase in the moment.
It’s something you build into your day so the dips don’t happen in the first place.

When I changed how I was eating and living, those patterns disappeared.

No more 3pm crash.
No more needing sugar to get through the day.
No more evening wipeout.

Now I have more energy than I did in my 20s.

Not because I’m doing anything extreme.
Because I’ve got a few simple things working in my favour.

That’s what this carousel is.

5 things that actually make a difference.

Energy isn’t random.
It’s not something you either have or you don’t.

You’re in charge of it 💪 Be the CEO of you.

I went to a microbiome lecture last night at the The latest gut microbe science is fascinating.

Researchers are isolating gut microbes that can reduce anxiety and weight gain, with potential for targeted probiotic therapies.

Even to help people maintain weight loss after GLP-1s.

And I couldn’t help but think:

We’re solving problems we created…
then creating solutions for the problems those solutions create. 🤯

We’re investing huge time, money and brainpower into fixing problems…

…that are caused by how we eat and how we live.

And you have to ask… why are we making this so complicated! 🤷🏼‍♀️

The best solution is often the simplest one.

It’s not found in a capsule.
It’s found in how we choose to live, every day.
Fix the root cause.

🥦😴🏃‍♀️🥰

✨Two things can be true at the same time.

I took this photo while walking through an old neighbourhood in Shanghai. Traditional buildings sit alongside striking modern towers. The old hasn’t disappeared. The new hasn’t replaced it. They exist together.

It reminded me of the Zen teaching:

“You are perfect the way you are… and you can still improve.”

At first glance that sounds contradictory.

But many important truths in life work this way.

👉 You can accept yourself as you are today — and still want to grow.

👉 You can feel proud of how far you’ve come — and still see room to improve.

I think about this tension a lot in my work around health and habits.

When does healthy growth tip into constant striving?
When does it become obsessive monitoring?
When does it drift into perfectionism?

🤔

Because great health isn’t about perfect optimisation or the perfect protocol.

It’s about living well.
Having the energy to do the things that matter.
Spending time with the people you love.
Enjoying your life.

🌱
You are already enough.
And you can still improve how you live.

I wrote a longer reflection on this paradox of self-acceptance and growth.
You can read it via the link in my bio ❤️

A lot of people think improving their health means doing more.

More effort. More rules. More complexity.

In my experience, significant progress can come from stopping a few things that don’t serve you.

Here are five things I’ve stopped doing in recent years. They’ve made a huge difference.

Small changes, repeated daily, compound into big results.

Which one of these would make the biggest difference for you?

❤️ Moral Beauty

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about moral beauty—the kind of beauty that’s not on the surface, but goes much deeper. It’s about who we are and how we treat one another.

Moral beauty is courage, kindness, generosity, integrity, patience, humility.

It’s the feeling you get when you witness someone do something good… not because they had to, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

And in a world that feels particularly heavy right now, noticing moral beauty feels like an anchor in a stormy sea. A reminder that goodness exists all around us. That people care and are kind. That hope is real and observable in tiny, everyday actions.

The more we notice moral beauty, the more we see it everywhere.
In us, and around us.
It’s a muscle we can train to be stronger.

This week’s Daily Habit article is all about this idea—what moral beauty is, why it matters, and how you can cultivate it in your own life, one small action at a time.

🤦‍♀️Ahhhh midlife, there are so many joys.
It’s full of contrasts.

The wisdom. The clarity. The zero-tolerance for BS. The art of saying no becomes a superpower… even if the ex*****on isn’t always with finesse 😬

And then… the chin hairs, the night sweats, the sudden inability to tolerate alcohol or spices, the military-style scheduling of bedtime, the oops when you sneeze 😂

It’s a wild mix, AND one of the most transformative times of our lives.

The good news is it doesn’t need to feel like chaos.
When you understand your hormones, your habits and your nervous system, this stage gets a whole lot easier and a whole lot more empowering.

That’s exactly what my ✨Lead Yourself First✨coaching series is built for - understanding you. Women 40+ who want to feel good, lead themselves with confidence and build healthy habits that actually stick 💪

If you’re craving more calm and less “WTF is happening to me” you can learn more through the coaching link in my bio.

❤️ I’m loving the midlife magic, mess, mayhem and everything in between.

As women, we’re conditioned from day one to put everyone else first. It’s partly evolutionary — that nurturing instinct kept our species alive — but in the modern world, running on empty doesn’t exactly help us thrive.

If we’re exhausted, stretched thin and running on fumes, how well can we show up for the people we love? How patient, empathetic and calm can we be when we haven’t given any of that to ourselves?

So what does it really mean to be the “CEO of Your Own Health”?

It’s one thing to know it, another to say it, and a whole different challenge to actually live it.

Here are a few simple ways to start stepping into that CEO role.

And if you want support, I’m here. The links in my bio will help you take the next step. ❤️

There’s only one person who can steer your wellbeing, and that’s you.

And the more you lead yourself first, the more influence you have over your energy, your mood and your future. 💪
