The only problem with Masculinity is that there’s not enough of it. 👊🏼🔥
 I’m sure this post will get me in trouble with those committed to vilifying men.
 Those delusional enough to somehow imagine a house will become stronger by weakening its structure..

Dismissing all the weight that is held and carried by its foundations..

For those who only know the dark side of the masculine, it all smells of danger, tyranny and abuse.

But the fire that burns is also the one that cooks and provides light and warmth..
 Context is essential.

I recently attended an evening dinner where Men gathered to connect with each other, leaving work aside, and opening up about what’s really going on underneath all the noise and daily grind.

The more men I hang out with the more I realize that most of us are not business owners, we’re owned by our busy-ness.

So back to the dinner, as we went around the table sharing our stories and challenges I was reminded we’re all on the same boat.  We’re a generation of men without elders.

We all had either a weak, abusive or absent father.

Best case scenario he was kind yet worked so hard to provide he failed to provide what we most needed growing up: His Love & Presence.

Nobody taught us what it meant to be a man..

So as we shot in the dark trying to be “good men”, we missed A LOT..

Workaholism, anger, insecurity, overwhelm, stress, restlessness and the underlying inability to slow down are some of the side effects men share.. 
Symptoms of winging the “being a Man” thing all along.

Looking around I saw myself in every other man.

The relentless drive, the single-pointed focus, the big responsibilities, high-standards and devotion to our work..
 Paired with a good, yet often neglected heart.

We need new models of masculinity where integrity and presence become more important metrics than piling numbers in our bank accounts.

We need Men connected to something greater AND grounded in reality to initiate the newer generations.  Last night I remembered that a woman can birth a boy..
 But a boy turning into a Man..
That’s a Man’s work.
 That is Men’s Work.  & we need WAY more of that.

A lot of people are confused about what “The Medicine” REALLY is.

They imagine it’s just the tea brewed out of two plants, and therefore where they drink it, who makes it and everything else doesn’t matter.

In their mind “Ayahuasca is just one”, so in their ignorance they decide they don’t need a shaman or a sacred space and just buy the brew off some random market.

I’ve received plenty of messages from such people asking me to support them out of the torment, trauma and suffering they put themselves through because of drinking the medicine alone..

Or in just any place .

The truth is that The Medicine is as much the plant as it is the communion with those whose life revolves around her.

The devotion and impeccability of the shaman and his community, the music they co-create in those altered states of consciousness and the land itself.

A flower loses her most precious part when it is plucked away from the earth..

And the medicine loses her healing power when it is taken away from the places and people she calls home.

The Medicine is an experience that includes everything..

From the geometry with which the fire is built, the quality of the wood and the care with which it was chopped..

To the icaros and medicine songs, being an embodied expression of those who sing them..

To the land, the temple, the children of the community, the aroma of peace and family..

It all gathers together to create a possibility of transformation.

So be intentional and mindful about where you go, and NEVER EVER take your journey of spiritual growth in a reckless manner.

Why should Ayahuasca be done in a Temple in Nature? 🌲⁠🛕

Let's start from a basic concept:⁠
Everything is energy.⁠

This is why when you go on a hike, to the ocean, or to a busy downtown street, you can FEEL the impact on your body.⁠
⁠
"The vibe" of each space is vastly different.⁠
⁠
Nature -however- is the closest it gets to pure energy.⁠
⁠
The creators' creation untouched and unstained by man.⁠
⁠
This is why since thousands of years, Ayahuasca has been a medicine that was kept in the jungles.⁠
⁠
Because everything that you enter in contact with - during your ceremony - will have an impact on you.⁠
⁠
The music⁠
The space⁠
The fire⁠
The nature⁠
The community⁠
The shaman⁠
⁠
Everything.⁠

Therefore, it is best to have an experience in a place that is conducive to a profound inner process.⁠

Your body has an energetic field that is in constant connection to the people and places around you.

This can be beneficial if you live near temples, consecrated spaces and nature.

However, the truth is that for most people the city life, work settings and social venues are full of a lot of “heavy stuff” 🤢

By heavy stuff we refer to dense emotions like anxiety, depression , anger, frustration and confusion.

Or in nightlife spaces, lust abounds.

Nothing wrong with these emotions, they just aren’t supportive of reaching a deep meditative state and quite often, tend to entangle us through the mix of pain/pleasure they create.

It is because of this that ‘Spiritual Hygiene’ is a must if you are planning to attend ceremony (or if you are committed to living a conscious, connected life)

At our land, we take the participants in-between ceremonies to the crystalline waterfalls for a process of intentional purification.

So that the stuff they have unconsciously gathered from the outside world and spaces does not affect their journey of healing.

Cleansing through water, fire and earth are practices you will find deep in the shamanic traditions as well as the eastern, yogic and hindu sciences.

🍃So, if you are planning to attend ceremony:
1- Be mindful of the places and people you are in contact with
2- Cleanse your energy periodically
3- Spend as much time in nature and/or alone as possible

I used to feel that my sexual energy was like a horse too wild to tame..
Too intense to be controlled or repressed.

At the same time I knew that unchecked, unbridled sexual expression leads to chaos, the loss of integrity and the prioritization of impulses and desires over conscious action.

Too many of my past relationships were negatively affected or destroyed by my inability to navigate my desires..

I’d suppress them and explode, or let them free and drown in them..

So last year in ceremony I asked the medicine to “heal” this part of me.. (back then, I still saw it as something “wrong”, shameful and unworthy that I needed to vanish once and for all -thank you catholic church!)

And as I felt the effects kick in, my horniness started roaring and reaching unprecedented peaks..

With it the shame of feeling so turned on in a sacred space..

Feeling on the verge of exploding into a million or***ms..

Wondering if the shaman or anyone else would notice 😳

I wanted to hide..

But I didn’t. It was too intense to control..

and even though there was fear in my heart I allowed myself to fully feel it, and tears came pouring from my eyes..

For I saw that what I wanted to get rid of, was the force of life itself.

In that moment I felt absolute passion and love towards every plant, every flower, every man and woman, every breath, every ant and bird.

And I realized that desire only consumes us when we discriminate..

For if only a hot young woman can turn me on I will forever be enslaved to those forms if I want to feel alive..

But if all of existence becomes my beloved, Life itself becomes a sexual act.

One where I get to pe*****te the moment with my presence and involvement..

Where I become one,
with everything I see,
anywhere I stand.

A oneness so complete it demands no further action nor suffers the illusion of separation or rejection.

I saw that my impulses were an issue only because the energy was entangled with my mind and therefore dependent on mental fantasies to seek satisfaction.

Now I see desire is the source of life itself

The eternal dance of the masculine and feminine within me.

So I now choose to love fully.
All of me..
And all of you.
